History

The history of ‘The Golden Blades Squadron’, begins from their time as a unit of TE ‘The Elite’ – one of the finest organisations in the Whole Sirius Sector- to the final wars with BLACK and the subsequent breakup of TE, when the whole Squadron stayed together rather than break up and that the principals of The Elite ,whose motto ‘De Oppressor Liber’ – to help the weak and protect the innocent – was still honoured.

Hello and welcome to GBS. If you are thinking about joining our happy band, there are a few things that you will need to know to allow you to ensure that we are the right group for you.

Our stated aims in the Universe are to help and protect those who need help.
If our pilots witness an outright act of bullying or nastiness toward an ‘innocent’ then the full (available) force of the Squadron will be deployed to prosecute, with extreme prejudice, the perpetrator(s), after careful investigation.

We will (subject to game constraints) be loosely Nomadic in nature, heading to the hot spots of the ‘verse to uphold fairness and equality for all. Trouble spots are where you will be most likely to find us lurking and our intelligence section will be actively scouting out potential areas for deployment, constantly.

Our Diplomatic Corps are available for mediation of disputes as ‘neutral’ observers and we will also supply our pilots (for a price of course) as neutral observers during inter organisational conflict or exercise.

Our pilots will be available as paid escorts through any disputed warzones, for neutral parties, to avoid them becoming involved in the conflicts accidentally.

Blades can deal in all manner of cargoes but we do have several STRICT resrictions:-

Our penchant for alcoholic beverages, does mean that we may often be seen undertaking bootlegging runs.

For your guidance our philosophy is one of friendship and cameraderie, loyalty and honesty and above all fun.

We will be playing and organised within the umbrella of the Head2Head Gaming Community H2H, all Pilots who join GBS will need to register and agree to the conditions of membership prior to being given forum and Teamspeak access.

Charter

As a PMC (Private Military Corporation)wet will be based very loosely on a mixture of rank and time in service, there are so far a variety of spots available and the projection is to follow the model of the old TE in form and format.

As is understood at this time there will be the facility to multi man Capital ships, also for those Cap ships to carry a complement of smaller vessels, with this in mind ……. :-

The plan is to be a nomadic style of group, thus negating the need to spend resources defending a home base and detracting from game play and exploration by always camping near the base.
To this end it is hoped that the squadron will be broken up into its constituent units, Flight (4 man) smallest operational unit, Wing (3/4 Flight unit) and the Squadron (Whole Fleet).

Each Flight will be commanded by a 1LT with 3 pilots within the wing as 2LT.

Each Wing will be commanded by a CAP, and will contain 3/4 wings, While onboard a carrier ship, his title will be CSW ( Commander Star Wing), while onboard he will be under the command of the carrier Fleet Major. MAJ

Each wing will be based upon a light/escort carrier commanded by a MAJ (F) a Fleet Major, this position will be explained more later.

Administrative Ranks are MAJ/LTC/COL

To become a Fleet Major you will have had to spend some time as a Major, this role involves learning the intricacies of squadron management as each fleet carrier will in essence be a semi autonomous unit within GBS, self funding and self disciplinary, subject to orders from higher authority. The Role of Major incorporates the Roles of Diplomat, recruiter &Trainer. Thus allowing the Fleet Majors (once appointed) to interact with the universe on our behalf, recruit pilots and train them.
This rank is only attainable when an available Capital ship is purchased or seized by the Squadron.

As this is an MMO role-play takes an important role in the game and, from previous experiences, greatly enhances the ‘experience’ of this type of game. The role of the GBS will not be changing, it is to offer help and support to those who are in need, to be the ‘good guys’ who innocent players will be able to turn to for help and advice. Now obviously this puts us directly at odds with Pirate or just plain evil groups/individuals, but that is half the fun.

PvP will be an integral and important part of the game so training missions, such as duelling tactics, flight/wing/squadron exercises will be regular, if there are two of you it’s always good to practice your dog fighting skills on each other so any time is training time.

Recruitment/Training officers (MAJ) will be expected to organise events/practice missions etc to help with the training of all pilots, and to vet and try out any prospective applicants to the squadron, all will become clearer closer to release.

Diplomatic Officers (MAJ) will be expected to negotiate passage, temporary treaties and generally be the Public relations arm of GBS both in game and in RSI forums.

WAR !

War will only be declared on other groups with the express assent of at least 3 Fleet/Admin officers and after careful consideration of both the fiscal impact and manpower availability.

These type of games tend to be long lived and the reputation of the Group WILL stick in the minds of other groups/individuals, so play nice, but fight hard.

Finances.

It will be expected that each member will voluntarily give up 15% of any income earned within the game to go into Group central war chest, for the purchase of capital equipment and for equipping for wartime footing.

Reporting procedures.

As the leadership need to know what is going on with the group a hard and fast reporting process will be implemented. After a session in game/forum (Diplomats) all officers are expected to file a report via email/forum PM to their immediate Commanding officer outlining any pertinent intelligence gathered, fights that have occurred (PvP), earnings for trader units just a brief report of what your day in the ‘verse was like. Likewise on a regular basis the flight commanders will pass up the line any reports to their superior and so on and so forth.

This has several useful and fun outcomes, there will be an in squadron set of medals, and the attainment of further rank advancement pivots on an active, and useful, playing career. So if you fight off 3 pirates picking on a freighter, then report it and so on. It also allows for the squadron officers to better understand where any training may be needed or if there is a need to commit additional resources to a particular area etc.

We do tend to attract a fair few former and active members of various armed forces, so obviously this should be fairly basic stuff.
