History

[See Manifesto for out-of-roleplay information]

Background
Glaciem Interplanetary Recovery & Mercantile (GIRM) started its journey as an A’care Mining & Reclamation subsidiary in late 2952. Founded by Michael Richards, GIRM was established to operate mobile and static marketplaces throughout Nyx and beyond, conduct or support emergency response, search and rescue and salvage operations.

GIRM’s starting endeavors were to sell excess equipment stock acquired from underground facility security assistance contracts and providing emergency response services for citizens in distress. Thanks to Michael’s former successful career in several organizations and funds accumulated over time, GIRM was able to rent small sections in HEX installations carved in larger asteroids found within Glaciem Ring as static, small warehouses. Official contact with Levski mining colony was established and the transactions of goods and credits began in a matter of days, with repurposed transport ships as mobile, makeshift marketplaces in the low orbit of Delamar.

Once supply was sustainable by GIRM and there were enough demand for goods at the initial scale they operated, a branch office was opened at Stanton IV (MicroTech, New Babbage) for ease of conducting business within Stanton and GIRM began equipment and cargo recovery services. The nature of expanding from Nyx to Stanton so quickly also necessitated contracting mercenaries and freelancers initially to escort couriers through Pyro and popular hotspots within Stanton to alleviate the lack of manpower, however mercenaries were not a reliable permanent solution, thus GIRM also started to form an in-house security force with training and equipment provided. Today GIRM functions with six divisions of varying capabilities and resources: Mercantile, Emergency Response, Privateers, Scavengers, Engineering, Tertiary Operations. Over the course of its growth, GIRM has joined multiple joint ventures and formed multiple partnerships such as Operation Pitchfork, The Ellis Foundation and OD3ICA Spacecomms Relay Service, as well as joining Tau Alliance by signing Treaty of Levski in August 2953.

GIRM always seeks to recruit more civilians and citizens from all walks of life, from aspiring merchants to navy veterans and expand its operations beyond Nyx-Stanton corridor.

Manifesto

Glaciem Interplanetary Recovery & Mercantile is a light roleplay mercantile and recovery, medical and salvaging organization.

Our Goals
Well, first and foremost, having fun together. Also learning from each other’s experiences and growing said experiences. Our gameplay are intended to be centered around mobile bazaar aspect Star Citizen offers, supplying shops, buying and selling, bartering, finding buyers and sellers etc. when the systems necessary are developed or as much as they can be managed in improvised manner. Alternatives or secondary gameplay would be SAR, cargo recovery, fighter and multicrew ship security and salvaging as our primary resource acquisition method. This does not restrict members from participating in other aspects of Star Citizen, just that these aspects are not a focus point for this organization.

How we operate?
While we have divisions, they are not in strict manner but mainly for roleplay flavor and organizational purposes to know our members’ primary interests. We aim for versatility of each member so members can switch their gameplay as they need or the situation they are in requires to do so. Each member can pursue what interests them (as long as those interests do not conflict with the organization’s interests) and specialize in certain areas if they wish, however we promote the idea of everyone being able to do a little bit of everything to better respond against unexpected things.

Our stance in the ‘Verse
We are, in-roleplay, based in Nyx system. We are not UEE-aligned and would not be defined as lawful, at the same time we are not a pirate crew either.

Divisions
Mercantile – Mercantile Division is all about running our shops, buying from bulk suppliers when our own supply capabilities are not enough and selling our stocks when there is demand. They can also be found doing traditional cargo freight through the ‘Verse.

Privateer – The Security Division also known as Privateers due to their multi-faceted nature, they are called into action for both defensive and offensive purposes. They defend our shipments, shops and S&R teams, they strike at elements where mutual understanding is simply not possible and prove to be disruptive to our business, such as Vanduul or XenoThreat forces, be it with ships, ground vehicles or as infantry.

Recovery – Emergency Response Division consists of personnel both carrying search and rescue operations and recovery operations. Due to many unpredictable elements present in being the first line to head into the unknown situations, this division is highly in coordination with Privateers. While they have knowledge of basic first aid and patient stabilization should the need arise, this division lacks training and equipment to fulfill a full Medical division’s purposes.

Scavenge – Scavenge Division is responsible for all processes involving stripping a derelict of valuables, such as recycleable material, repairable or valuable components, reuseable fuel and superstructure cleanup. Despite their primary purpose being deconstruction, they are also adept at maintenance. Since late 2953, their construction aspect grew and necessitated creation of its own division.

Engineering – Engineering Division is a newly formed division in late 2953 forming out of Scavengers Division as new ways to construct and maintain items of all sizes has been made available to citizens and small corporations. From acquisition of a size 0 shield blueprint to construction of gargantuan planetary outposts, Engineering Division oversees all construction, blueprint acquisition and research needs of Glaciem Interplanetary.

Tertiary Operations – This is not a true division but a term that encompasses areas that do not fall under GIRM’s focus points. These areas are usually pioneered by one individual or a group likeminded individuals. These areas could range from mining operations to fully functioning hospitals or racing. While GIRM supports endeavors of this nature, they are also not priority when it comes to allocating resources. Where possible, GIRM cooperates with known contacts to collaborate or outsource such operations.

Charter

Glaciem Interplanetary – Mercantile Charter:
-GIRM can not be held liable for damages done after the goods are in client’s possession due to end user error.
-GIRM is not a piracy-associated organization and does not encourage or participate in piracy.
-GIRM reserves the right to expel and use lethal force against troublemakers within GIRM and/or allied operated shops
-While GIRM accepts unofficial transactions through mo.Trader or in the form of UEC chits, without a clerk or shopping kiosk available GIRM waives all liability.
-Should an Emergency Response operation fails or is canceled by GIRM due to unfavorable conditions and payment was done in advance, GIRM will refund %90 of the payment. This clause does not apply to contracts canceled by the client at any time before contract fulfillment.
-In cases where an action for a given situation is not described within the Mercantile Charter, GIRM reserves the right to use full extent of initiative.

[Organization Rules]
Use Common Sense
In an ideal universe, this alone would have to suffice and this whole charter section would not even exist perhaps. If you have doubts about something you are about to do and asking to yourself “is this inappropriate or wrong to do?”, then it probably is wrong to do.

Maintain respectful attitude.
There is a player behind the character you see and they want to have fun just like you. Do not threaten, use derogatory, abusive or hateful language or content.

RL > SC
Real life is a fickle thing, stuff happens, emergencies arise. Let the leadership know you can’t participate in planned content in advance, rather than we finding out about it hours later.
