Welcome, Earthlings, to the first-ever Intragalactic Cook-off! :alien: Sharpen your knives and preheat your ovens, because we're challenging you to cook, bake, grill, or create the best alien-inspired dish inside the Milky Way! Try your hand at creating a tasty dish or yummy baked good inspired by our favorite aliens of the 'verse for a chance to win some out-of-this-world prizes! Your submission must be in the form of a comment in the submission thread and must include a picture of your alien-themed treat, and the recipe and instructions to make it! It's our first time hosting a cooking contest, so please feel free to drop a question in the comments section below. We'll be assembling an Alien themed e-cook book at the end with everyone's recipes and pictures so you can try your hand at the galaxy's tastiest treats. ______ Here's an example of what your comment should look like. "Banu, Xi'an, & Vanduul Sugar Cookies" Recipe Cookies: 1 cup butter (room temp) 2 2/3 cups Flour 1 cup light brown sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp ground ginger 1 tsp vanilla extract Pinch of nutmeg Pinch of salt Beat the butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together in a mixing bowl, then sift in the remaining ingredients. Once that's all combined, wrap 5 evenly sized lumps of dough in some plastic wrap and stick it in the fridge to chill for about four-ish hours. Once dough's chilled, remove it from the fridge and begin rolling it out. Cut Banu, Xi'an, and Vanduul head-shaped pieces. If you mess up a bit it's okay, you can always use icing to cover up your mistakes. Once you've got some shapes you're happy with, toss those suckers in a 350°F oven until they're light golden brown. These portions will give you enough cookies for a medium-sized Bar Citizen... just saying. Icing: 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar 2 egg whites "lil bit" of water Combine the sugar & egg whites in a mixer. Add a tiny bit of water to the mixture to soften it. You can overdo this easily, so be careful here. Separate into smaller portions, and add food coloring to liking. Get to work icing the cookies.
