This is a pretty stock standard snare of a Mole with an extortion demand made. Unfortunately the mic of the pirate in the Mantis didn't record so you don't hear him make his extortion demand. He was polite and professional about it. The target has some choice words to say, doesn't pay and escapes the pirate by Alt+F4ing, they then later rejoin the server with the intent on exacting revenge. The purpose of this post is not to talk about the language or the way the Mole pilot reacted or whether piracy is possible or not. You can obviously tell they didn't like the encounter once they realise what is going on. No, it's to highlight that this guy (claims he) has 80 million credits sitting in his wallet and didn't bother shelling out for an escort. With all his millions of credits, not one was spent on an escort. It's understandable that there are players who don't want PvP encounters like the video above to happen. That's fine. But 80 million credits in the bank and old mate didn't bother shelling out for an escort or two to prevent such an encounter to happen. There's no argument here that can be made that they didn't have the credits to pay for an escort. Even if you don't acknowledge that piracy exists in Star Citizen, there is a known element of danger with players killing other players. And they obviously didn't like being stopped and having their gameplay interrupted. There's an ingame solution that can be used right now to prevent these sorts of encounters from happening and yet it's still ignored. HIRE SECURITY You're literally being told the solution by the people you don't want to encounter, how to counter them when they come across you When we hit SaltEMike the second time we lost 3 ships. He had two other ships with him, help fight us and they weren't even combat ships. Mike also managed to take down one of the ships with a railgun. We ultimately won the day, but we lost 3 ships for the measly payout of 62k. That's a loss on our part too. And this all happened because: He participated in the gameplay He used the tools available (to everyone) in game He had other people with him It's that simple. We're all waiting for different mechanics and systems to come online, but there's enough right now to make Star Citizen a much more enjoyable experience. It just takes some effort to make them work.
