Hearing about a flat 5% death tax in the PTU. Any death tax is effectively game over for me. I'm not headed to the refunds subreddit, but I'll definitely be uninstalling. There's better ways to penalize death and sink money from the in-game economy than charging me a fee to respawn. Edit 5: Concerning how I found out about this: 1. Heard this via an EVO. 2. I'm not EVO. 3. Digging through some of the layers here, apparently it's a pop-up upon death that isn't consistently coming up. The funds are not being removed regardless at this time. I don't feel like I've been lied to. Edit 4: Seeing a lot of posts reference Death of a Spaceman (which I tend to abbreviate DOASM). This is independent of DOASM and I've specifically not referenced that because it's a separate conversation from this. Edit 3: For those engaging in discussion, thank you. For those saying "enjoy retirement", I will. Thanks for your non-input. Edit 2: The loss of player agency, taking the UEC during the respawn process and giving the player zero choice in the matter is the pain point for me. There are more effective money sinks and punishments for death than a flat removal of UEC upon death that the player has no say in. Examples are gear durability/replacement fees, ship replacement fees/expedite fees, money transfer fees, a UEC cost to change your respawn, fuel, rearm and repair fees. Edit: Since it was asked, I'll address it. I'm not going to cry to CIG to refund the money I've spent on the game. If a death tax went live and I walked away, it'd be me cutting my losses.
