Hello everyone, My name is Jason, and I've been a backer of this project since 2013. To date, my total contribution to this project exceeds $4,000. I'm not here to argue or point fingers – I just want to share some thoughts from the heart, as an old-school backer. This is my first post on Spectrum, so please bear with me if I've posted this in the wrong section. It will likely be my last. Here's what happened: Life got busy, and I hadn't followed Star Citizen news for a while. Out of a long-standing habit I've had for over a decade – melting packages for store credit to try out newly released ships – I melted two of my old packages that included Squadron 42 access, thinking I could always buy them back later when I felt like playing again. It wasn't until recently that I learned CIG changed the policy back in April, making all packages containing Squadron 42 ineligible for buyback. I reached out to support, received a polite but firm refusal, and was told I could share my thoughts here on Spectrum. I understand the intention behind curbing the grey market resale, and I respect that decision. But what makes this situation particularly frustrating for me is this: I don't actually need the Squadron 42 entitlement that came with these two packages – my account already has Squadron 42 access through Concierge. In other words, the very reason for the buyback restriction doesn't even apply to me personally. Yet I still lost those two packages because of this policy, and that stings even more. Because these two packages held irreplaceable meaning for me: Digital Mercenary - LTI: This was my very first game package when I backed the project in 2013. It was the starting point of my trust in this project, and the Legacy Alpha attached to it was a badge of honor as an early adopter. UEE Exploration 2948 Pack: This was the "seed" of all my upgrade plans – I had intended to build my dream hangar around it, step by step. What hits me even harder is the passage of time. Back in 2013, I had just graduated from high school. I was 18, full of dreams, believing that Star Citizen would be the greatest space adventure of my life for years to come. Now, I'm 31. Work and life have long since ground that youthful passion into pieces. Over these thirteen years, the game has been iterated and reworked countless times, and my upgrade roadmap has been rewritten just as many times. Now, with these two packages out of reach, the carefully planned CCU chain I had built is completely broken. To be honest, I no longer have the energy to re-calculate CCU chains, chase every new concept ship, or track every price fluctuation. The everyday grind – overtime, mortgage payments, family responsibilities – has left me with little of the spark I once had, the spark that kept me browsing forums and fine-tuning my fleet for hours. This might be my final goodbye to this game. I'm not angry, and I'm not asking for an exception – I know that's not realistic. I just want to leave my story here, as an old backer. Maybe one day, when Star Citizen and Squadron 42 finally release, I'll come back for a look. But for now, I've decided to let go. Thank you, CIG, for the dream you've kept alive all these years. And thank you to the community – to everyone who once talked ships with me, ran cargo together, and shared the journey. May the stars remain bright. —— Jason, a backer since 2013
