I was watching a video about SC this morning, and realized fully just how long it has taken CiG to get to where they are now as far as game development for SC. I have realized it has taken them over a decade to produce what we have now. What we have now is a mess of systems that do not work well together. Even more-so, a mess of systems and assets that aren't even close to finished. Terminals and ships bugging, stations bugging, missions bugging, planets bugging. QT travel system bugging Crime Stat system bugging, Landing and departing bugging. Hailing bugging. Direct Messages bugging. Basically aeverything in the game is buggy, not a single thing works well enough to be considered finished. When this was announced, I was very excited, so, very excited. Now, after this much time I have realized also how old I am. I was 28 when SC was announced. I am 40 now. If it has taken them this long to produce the little we have as far as a polished game would be considered, there is a high chance that I will pass away before this game goes 1.0 An even higher chance that if I do not pass away before then, I will be so old I won't be able to play it anymore. Im not sure how CiG feels about this aspect of their development. The fact that a good deal of the backers, wont be around anymore by the time they get it even close to being reliably playable. Cig, are you guys ok with this? Are you ok with people whom supported you, gave you the money they worked for, and waited, passing away any never being able to enjoy a finished product because your development cycle is so slow? I think more was bitten off than could be chewed here. Fix the systems in place so they work. Fix collision, make it reliably playable THEN work on new or extended things... Not doing this, is going to cause this game to release in another 30-40 years.
