Hi everyone, Following our recent Alpha 4.0 Patch Watch #2 post, we’re back with some new information that will impact your day-to-day gameplay, how you see the ’verse, and how the ’verse sees you. Economy Balancing As highlighted in Alpha 4.0 Patch Watch #1, Star Citizen Alpha 4.0 brings a comprehensive overhaul to the in-game economy. This update enables us to collect valuable gameplay and trading data directly from your Star Citizen play sessions. Combined with your provided feedback, this data will drive ongoing adjustments and fine-tuning to ensure a balanced and immersive economic experience in the 'verse. Our team will also be monitoring closely for any exploits/loopholes that may negatively impact the economy. One recent loophole allowed players to spawn ships in their hangars, remove valuable components (such as weapons and mining heads) for resale, and then reclaim the fully equipped ship through insurance. This process generated large amounts of aUEC in a short time, disrupting the game's economy and creating imbalances, which will be crucial for us to avoid. To mitigate this and similar exploits, we're implementing a temporary adjustment: the sale prices of ship weapons will be reduced to significantly less than their purchase costs. This measure serves as an interim solution while we continue to refine the long-term design of our insurance and warranty systems, which will more comprehensively address fraudulent vehicle part duplication. We'll be closely monitoring your feedback on the upcoming economic rebalancing and look forward to long-term implementations that will offer more robust support. "Who the Hell Are You?" Some of you want to explore the 30th century as a futuristic version of yourself, while others prefer to step into the shoes of someone entirely different. No matter who you want to be in Alpha 4.0, we want to give you the opportunity to do so. Your journey begins with the Character Creator. To give you even more ways to craft a truly unique avatar, we’re excited to announce the addition of twenty new heads to the DNA pool. These new additions will grant you greater flexibility to create a character that feels distinctly yours. Below you'll find just three examples of what can be done with the expanded DNA pool – now it's your turn! We can’t wait to see how your creativity makes the ’verse even more diverse and vibrant! Marker Update You raised concerns about minable markers and we're happy to report that these issues have been resolved in Alpha 4.0. Additionally, we're excited to announce that the MISC Prospector has received some much-anticipated improvements. Miners can now more easily attach and detach mining sacks, streamlining resource collection and improving the overall mining experience. With these fixes and updates in place, we wish our miners the best of luck in their resource hunts! Opportunities in Pyro Pyro introduces a range of new and exclusive minables for the ship-mining profession, offering unique opportunities for prospectors throughout the system. Here's a sneak peek at what you can expect: New Base Materials (Defining the Rock): Tin Silicon Ice Rare Materials: Stileron Riccite – the rarest material in Pyro, even rarer than Quantainium! Unique Resource Distribution The Pyro system's resource distribution is shaped by its distinct environmental factors: Temperature Rings: Pyro is divided into zones based on proximity to its star. Closer to the star, temperatures rise, while the outer regions grow colder. For example, Ice is more abundant in the cooler outskirts of the system. Density Variations: Dense base materials are typically found in warmer regions, whereas lighter, porous materials like Ice and Silicon are more common in the colder, outer zones. Some details have been intentionally left for you to discover. So, prepare your mining ship, venture into Pyro, and uncover its wealth of resources firsthand. Happy prospecting!
