Hello, let me introduce myself: I am WaldeckTBD, backer and follower since 2015. I have closely followed all the news, updates and the development of Star Citizen since then. I have played thousands of hours, and I still play from time to time. Also, I have supported —and continue to support— this project in many ways because I truly love it and believe in what it could be. But that is exactly why I feel the need to speak up now. Today I feel compelled to express my growing concern: the direction the project is taking no longer motivates me to play. What was once an ambitious space simulator, true to a realistic yet fun vision, is now starting to feel too much like a generic RUST or ARK style survival game (and some times even CoD or BF with those infinite respawns, I know that there will be changes but thats not enough for me). Very far from the original idea. I understand that the team has changed over the years. I accept that “things change” but I am almost 99% sure that many of the veteran backers, those of us who made this possible from the beginning, feel exactly —or close— the same way. Main concerns: The project is drifting away from the deep space simulation that was promised, leaning towards a fast arcade model that breaks the original essence. The initial vision was clear: to create something realistic, with rich and immersive mechanics, and then add fun without losing that foundation of simulation. Right now it feels like the focus is to satisfy short and fast activities, instead of offering the unique and ambitious experience that drew us in from the beginning. And let’s not even talk about other mechanics unrelated to combat, as many of them are still missing. There are also some other concerns, but those are the mains ones. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I am not seeking confrontation, but rather hoping you understand the feelings of many of us who have trusted this project for years. We still believe in Star Citizen, but we need it to breathe again that essence that made it different from any other game. Kind regards, WaldeckTBD
