This week's roadmap update is a good reminder that a shiny, better looking roadmap does not equate to better content delivery. At the end of the day. Nothing new here. I'm not surprised really. Same thing happening every year. End of the year, great roadmap ahead. First quarter passes, things start to slide. Mainly anything that isn't pvp, location, ship or visual related. This is where we are at right now. As we get further in the year, most of the very awaited "game changers" features that should improve our playing experience will keep sliding until "shifting priorities" claims them and they disappear completely until next year. Such is the cycle. And this roadmap update suggests we're back at it. Frankly, I would suggest everyone to brace themselves. This update is just the beginning of a trend that keeps repeating itself year after year. I wish to be wrong. I really do. I was hoping that this year CIG would finally improve on delivering its roadmap content. Yes, we know these aren't promises and that things sliding are to be expected. But it's perfectly fair for a community to use the roadmap and CIGs ability to stick to it as much as possible as a measuring method of their performance. You can't blame anyone for doing that. It's our only window to see how development is doing. And losing over half the features planed in a year doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Specifically when these features seem to always be anything other than visual improvements for the most part. Once again, anyone who is hoping to do anything but bounty missions or mining bites the dust. Oh... and trading is still broken since 3.12... so... thanks for the C2... I guess? Right now. It's just things sliding one quarter. So on paper. Not a big deal. But anyone who has been here long enough knows that this is just the earthquake that preceeds a tsunami. So brace yourselves. It would seem this year will not break the cycle of disappointments. I hope to be proven wrong CIG, I really do.
