Are the Javelin, Kraken, Kraken Privateer, and Odin all going to suffer the same fate as the Idris and Polaris just because some people think capital ships are “ too OP ? ” At this point, some of the balance arguments sound like people are upset because they cannot sink the USS Gerald R. Ford with a Water Tender 9.4 rowboat and a squirt gun. That is what this sounds like. There should be no world whatsoever where a capital ship is being overpowered or taken down by 2 to 3 light fighters. Even a skeleton crewed capital ship should still be a serious threat. It should not be operating at full strength, but it should still be dangerous enough that smaller ships have to respect it. There should be no world where 2 to 3 light fighters feel confident going into an engagement against an Idris and expect to come out on top. That kind of fight should feel like a massive risk for the light fighters, not a realistic win condition. There should be no reason a single light fighter can just sit inside a capital ship’s effective range and turn the fight into a waiting game. Because at that point, the fight stops being: “Can the light fighter damage the capital ship? ” And it becomes: “How long until the light fighter eventually damages the capital ship enough ? ” That is the problem. A capital ship is supposed to be a capital ship. It is not supposed to feel like a slightly larger medium ship that has to be carefully nerfed every time a smaller ship struggles against it. If a massive naval warship gets hit by another massive capital grade weapon, it should hurt. If a giant capital weapon hits a smaller ship, it should absolutely ruin that ship. That is the whole point. Instead, it feels like the discussion keeps turning into this idea that if a light fighter or smaller ship cannot comfortably pressure, out trade, or survive against a capital ship, then the capital ship must be too strong and needs another nerf. Why ? That would be like saying the Gerald R. Ford is overpowered because a random guy in a Water Tender 9.4 cannot sail up to it and take it down with a squirt gun. The Bengal literally has like four Idris railguns strapped together into one super weapon. Is that going to be called too OP too ? Because if a weapon that is practically the size of my ship shoots at me, yes, I would expect it to kill me. Capital ships are supposed to be terrifying military/org assets, not oversized loot piñatas that get balanced around the comfort level of smaller ships. A light fighter should not be able to casually live inside the engagement range of a capital ship like it is fighting another small ship. If it gets too close, stays too long, or makes a mistake, it should get punished hard. So now I am wondering, will the Anvil Odin suffer the same fate ? Will people look at this update and decide not to buy it because they are worried it will eventually get nerfed into the ground too ? I am still buying it, but this is the concern. If every capital ship gets nerfed the moment it starts feeling like an actual capital ship, then what is even the point of having capital ships in the first place? https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/how-to-save-star-citizen-from-the-single-seater-he P.S. I also made a separate post with a more organized custom shard / org war testing proposal, including event structure and example test values. I am mainly looking for constructive feedback and community support for the idea. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/61894/thread/weekly-custom-shard-proposal-for-org-war-testing
