My arguments aren't specifically geared towards 600i, but the general thought process of CIG thinking that a ship is worth significantly more than competitors while also lacking in functionality compared with its competitors because it's "luxurious" doesn't make sense. I get it, a luxury ship like the 600i should cost more. But the way CIG is thinking about this is wrong. The Lamborghini vs Minivan comparison : CIG, you shouldn't be comparing ships with cars. Spaceships are spaceships, if anything, you should be comparing ships with naval vessels, not cars. And even then, the analogy really doesn't apply to spaceships in the Star Citizen universe. First off, a lamborghini performs much better than a minivan. It's a sports/super car. You get what you pay for. A brand name is just that; it not only looks fancy, and is luxurious, it performs the part and you pay for the extra functionality that comes with the car. For a Lamborghini the looks, leather seats, the racing steering wheel, and most importantly the performance of the car is what makes the brand Lamborghini highly regarded. The 600i, in contrast, does not offer those things. The engines are less powerful than a Constellation, its firepower is slightly less than a Constellation, and it isn't as maneuverable as a Constellation. The only selling point is its luxurious design, which you cannot transport VIPs with and is useless inside a virtual video game. The same way a yacht isn't built out of a shitty low-grade boat with mediocre engines, and the same way a luxury car like a Rolls Royce isn't made with a shitty engine and lacking functionality compared to its competitors, a highly regarded brand name charges a price premium for extra functionality and performance. Furthermore, in the Star Citizen universe, an expensive, luxurious yacht should have the best defensive weaponry money can buy. Why? Because the Star Citizen universe is a universe infested by pirates, not to mention the threat of alien races such as the Vanduul. A minivan like the basic Aurora comes with weapons, and in real life, billionaires have yachts with cutting edge defenses (as much as they can get legally). So in a universe where even basic minivans have cannons on them, doesn't it make sense for a luxury yacht to come with cutting edge point defenses, and other defensive weaponry to fend off any threats? There is a point where sacrificing functionality for luxury makes sense. Sacrificing some cargo capacity for a fancy living space makes sense in Origin's standpoint. What doesn't make sense, is that the so called "Exploration" variant isn't even a direct competitor to the Carrack, or that the "Touring" variant isn't even a direct competitor to the Constellation Phoenix, when the brand name Origin is touted as the "BMW of the Star Citizen Universe". The same way a brand name makes the best of the best components and parts for a product but for a price premium, Origin should be like that too. For its size, it should have the best scanning equipment. It should have the best defensive weaponry. It should have great performance in flight. This is not to say that ship should do everything and be great at everything. I'm not arguing for that. But the ship costs 435$, 85$ more than a Carrack, and Constellation Phoenix. Both of which have far better capabilities than the 600i, and are "luxurious" in their own regard. The price point when the 600i is basically like any other ship (other than Drake of course) but colored white with a couple of fancy furniture makes no sense. Just look at the concept for the RSI Polaris. It's a warship but in my eyes it's just as luxurious or more luxurious than the 600i in its interior, the only difference is it has a blue color palette instead of white. CIG, please reconsider the design for the 600i, and all future "luxury" ships. The only reason people bought the 890J was because it was deemed as a VIP transport money maker, as well as having a "Battle bridge" and state of the art ship components and defensive weaponry. The 600i is advertised as a minivan with a luxurious interior and no functionality.
