So, I’m a lover of PvP — I think it adds a massive amount to any game. But it has to be done right, and that’s where Star Citizen goes wrong. It’s just not done right at all. Now, when it is done right in Star Citizen — which I’ve seen a few times — it really shows its potential. A couple of times I’ve been pirated while doing cargo runs. A player in a fighter pulled up to me, called me out in chat or over VOIP, told me to pay them X amount and I’d be free to go. One time I said no, and they knocked out my ship, boarded me, and we fought FPS-style on my own ship — it was awesome. But then, there’s the other 90% of PvP — just aimless killing for the sake of it, with zero repercussions. Events are basically impossible to do because of this. One time, my friends and I manned my Starlancer TAC and went to the Hathor site to try out the Align & Mine event. As soon as we arrived, we got rammed by a guy in an Arrow. We respawned shortly after… turned off the game… and played something else. There needs to be serious repercussions for ramming and aimless killing. Make it so that if a player has a notorious rep for senseless murder, and they show up in a Medium or High Security system, they get insta-warped on by AI Security. That’d make it risky for those people to come to these areas, and it’d actually make them think twice. Right now, people just don’t care — we spawn with all our gear, so there's zero consequence for dying. You don’t really lose anything, and that just encourages more of the same pointless behavior. It really makes the game a drag to play and puts me off even doing nice relaxing actitivies such as Mining, Salvaging, Cargo Running, etc. The PvP doesn't even make sense lore wise anyway, there's no way a civilisation would ever get as technologically advanced like we have in StarCitizen when there is rampant sense murder plus kamakazi pilots wherever you go.
