In today's (July 19, 2018) ATV, Kirk Tome confirmed the auto-aim happening in the PTU turret gameplay currently is intentional. In my humble opinion, with this solution, CIG have put another band-aid on a poorly implemented flight design (which masks the phenomenal genius of the underlying physics simulation). Rather than fix the feel of the flight design that causes excess rotation rates that causes turrets to be extremely difficult to use, they have added auto-aim. What say you, community? If the computer plays for you enough to make this easy, will multi-crew ship flight - a mainstay concept of this BDSSE - hold your attention for the long-term? Or do they need to address the flight design causing the faulty behavior first? Please note this discussion naturally overflows to the auto-aim happening in single-player ships too (if two slow-moving players in opposing ships place their crosshairs on each other's targeted ship, the auto-aim will navigate the ships in a circle strafe around each other with no pilot input given!!). However, the intent of this thread is primarily about turrets. Please keep it on target....
