Star Citizen was announced 1 year after Skyrim released. Since Skyrim, there has been all of the Skyrim DLC, numerous Skyrim re-releases on every gen console including Nintendo Switch. Fallout 4, all of the Fallout 4 DLC, Fallout 76, all of the Fallout 76 DLC, and now Starfield, Redfall will be releasing in 2023, and also Elder Scrolls 6 has entered development already, from Bethesda. All will be completed and fleshed out, before Star Citizen PU even has 2 star systems or a single fully fleshed gameplay loop... They will have 5 AAA titles plus numerous DLC packs loaded with content pushed out and we still don't even have SQ42 "Episode 1" yet? Skyrim was made on a budget of only 100m dollars. All of Bethesda's games combined most likely don't even add up to the entire budget of Star Citizen. Skyrim has been rereleased on more game system types and gone platinum more times on each respective system, than Star Citizen has alpha patch updates, during the same frame of time.... All while developing the other games as well. Bethesda has only 420 employees in 2021. That's less than CIG. Bethesda had less than 100 employees in 2015, at the release of Fallout 4. Also less than CIG had in 2015. CIG had 270 staff, almost 3 times as many as Bethesda in 2015. https://youtu.be/lNoRbJHPqvI I'm definitely not going to be able to convince my friends to play Star Citizen now. Starfield just completely killed anything I can possibly say to defend it. Shit is looking really bleak at this point. Bethesda stuck the knife in deep. "100 Star Systems, over 1000 planets to explore" Customizable ships. Base building. First Person shooter. Space Ship Combat. Fully modular ship customization. Skyrim has a Co-Op mod that allows 64 players to play in one server... That's 14 more players than Star Citizen. Starfield will launch with full mod support, and is on a newer, better engine than Skyrim. It's only a matter of time after Starfield release, months most likely, before Starfield will have mutliplayer support, larger than Star Citizen. Starfield will be released, and have new DLC with new planets, new ship modularity, new quests, items, creatures, gameplay loop systems, etc. Possibly atmospheric flight, persistent multiplayer and/or modded servers. All before Star Citizen even has Two Star Systems, let alone exploration, tons of their sold ships, fully fleshed gameplay loops, a reason to be in an org, or servers that can actually accommodate them. And all CIG has to say is: "Spend hundreds of dollars more of your money or you might miss out on this exclusive limited time skin!" It's a dark day for CIG. Starfield is one small step for Bethesda, and one giant "Slap in the Face", for Star Citizen backer-kind.
