Hello everyone Edit: Please keep it civil, thank you :slightly_smiling_face: I guess most of you know CIG's Hex-code paints video from 2016. But did you know that Christopher Roberts said this in 2015? "at some point we will allow tools for people to do their own paint job" I didn't know this, I found this recently. January 2015 - Allow players to use own paint jobs Persistent Universe Panel 1 - The Path You Choose, Jan 29, 2015: https://youtu.be/XHf2HA37okM?t=1520 November 2016 - Why wouldn't we give the end user this ability? Star Citizen: Behind the Scenes - Variants Nov 22, 2016 https://youtu.be/gFg_dkqIuVs?t=117 December 2021 - Player colors still on the table Star Citizen Live: IAE 2951 All Ships Q&A Dec 3, 2021 https://youtu.be/hGIKKpZJDeg?t=2615 I thought we can "celebrate" hex-code paints 7 years later this year, but we can also "celebrate" in January 2024 "allow tools for people to do their own paint job" 9 years later :slightly_smiling_face: Hex-code editor This is as trivial as it gets, it doesn't even need a fancy UI Skins Skins can be difficult, I am not talking about skins. I talk about a simple tool to let us change the 3 default colors most (all?) ships have and select 3 new colors Every paint program uses hex-codes Why not in the game yet? Most skins CIG sells are just color swaps: replace the 3 default colors with 3 new ones, ask for up to 25 dollars. This is not a bad way to make money. However, we are in year 11, 600 million dollars is a lot of money to make a game, well 2 games but there is a lot of overlap, so let's call it 1.5 games.
