While the title may read like an interesting fantasy novel, I consider this to be a very serious topic in reality. When food and drink was added to SC, a lot of backers were very suspicious of what is going on. While in my perception, the "average" of the feedback was pretty neutral, it is undoubtfully an addition of tedious micromanagement tasks. Instead of the pitched "food and drink will provide small buffs, but it will not be necessary", we were suddenly forced to follow that tasks or get our avatar killed. The problem I see is that CIG received mainly negative feedback about the time to death. And still these timers haven't been touched in years and are at an unimmersive and ridiculously fast level being dead without drink over 2 hours and death to hunger after 5-6 hours. Again, we are talking about feedback over years, not arguing about food and drink overall (disregarding the issue with helmets), but on the time configuration of it. And here we are today, with CIG adding many new things (everything is a beam today, cargo timers while immersive things like forklifters are missing, upcoming fire, ...) which receive negative feedback. Not necessarily on the fact that they added those new features, but how they are configured/presented them. And it seems, that CIG is again ignorant on the feedback, radio silent on the long term plans, while stating "it will all come together in a later release". For me, it seems that CIG is living in an ivory tower, ignorant to constructive feedback. I wonder how many backers already left for good vs. how many new players are attracted by "hey, my ship can now suddenly catch fire which makes for an interesting game experience for me!". And how many backers have to leave until CIG understands that staying in an ivory tower forever will only result in them starving (no more money).
