Is PvP a choice or not? Is Stanton a lawful system controlled by the UEE or is it pirate / murder-hobo heaven? It cannot be both. Is the intention for industrial gameplay to always in all systems have eyes in the back of their heads and or escorts? This quote from CR has lost it's meaning: The game will certainly be fashioned in a way that if you don't want to engage in a player vs. player competition, you don't have to! The problem with PvP is, there is always a winner and a loser and both these people are players that have paid money for the game. If you always have competing people vs. people then there will always be winners and losers and so if you're not that great or don't have to time to practice up it will always be a suck experience any time you play. Star Citizen will give you opportunities to do all kind of stuff on both a PvE or PvP basis and there will be areas where there can be a crossover (this is PVA for those who do not understand...areas with PVA) between these two but it's up to you whatever you're gonna do. --Chris Roberts Is this a game for both pvp and pve players to enjoy? Industrial ships aren't designed to compete with fighters and military ships coming to attack them nor should they be, yet they are, consistently, in the advertised "lawful" system. Even the Reclaimer has less hit-points than a Constellation Taurus and that health pool is split fifty fifty between the front and the back. Is this your intention? and if so, do you intend for the Industrial enjoyers to hire escorts to keep them company, doing nothing for hours and hours while they're mining / salvaging / hauling on the off-chance that's when someone strikes? Who do you think will enjoy that? We know things take time and I've seen your transmissions on the subject over the twelve years I've been a backer, but there is enough nuggets of ambiguity and the reality of the game allowing indiscriminate murder of players who has chosen not to engage in pvp, so it makes you wonder, which is it? Here are some quotes from players here on spectrum who frequently advocate "free pvp" in the dayly discussions waged on the subject: It's CIGs fault for not designing better content that actually attracts people who want to compete and have that level of risk vs reward. Survival of the fittest is a natural and good evolutionary mechanism. So by taking enough from the weak he's producing a societal good by culling the herd and leaving a stronger overall herd. Those that don't leave will likely learn and get stronger themselves, so still a net positive. You are playing a game and you are playing by the rules of that game, you are not hurting anyone. And if your day gets ruined by loosing in a videogame, you might reconsider playing games that include the chance of loosing in general. In hard days, I smile when i remember PvE only crowd KNOWINGLY backed an open world PvP game, tried to change that because... reason (usually pvE crowd are like this, they like a PvP game, put their grubby hands on it and want it made PvE), then CIG told them straight : there will be risk of PvP everywhere, at all time. Now of course, our mission is to ramp up attacks on industrial players, to really drive in the message. 100% agree, and when pyro was announced I thought that’s what we’d see. Unfortunately Stanton stayed as profitable if not more profitable than pyro, with less travel involved so industrial players largely stayed there, which in turn saw pirates move back from pyro into Stanton. I still try my luck in pyro from time to time but there just isnt enough reason to be there. Paraphrasing I can add quotes from memory, players who say things like: When I leave the station I'm on the hunt, if you're not prepared I will blow you up. Go play single player games if you don't like it Plus a slew of other playground-bully tactics that this kind of gameplay inevitably becomes the hyper-fertilized soil for. The "PVP-players" are un-repentant and un-abashed but are they right?? The people backing this game and playing because CR and the dev's claimed and keep claiming "you can choose to play pve OR pvp" deserve to know if there will be a light at the end of the tunnel or if the development really has shifted to "rust in space". I get that this question probably wont get an official answer anytime soon, after all it's not fiscally responsible to give a definite answer as it risks alienating the most dead-set players in both camps. This is an ongoing, inflammatory and very heated debate waged constantly in your forums and an official and up to date statement is starting to become necessary. Personally I enjoy both, but I enjoy my PvP in Pyro and my PvE in Nyx and Stanton.
