I'm concerned, upset, and confused as to why CIG thinks that Stormbreaker is taking the next step in exploration gameplay — or rather, is being reshaped into just another PvP-centric gameplay loop that makes you feel like you are... fighting for something? That doesn't sound at all like exploration to me. To me, it sounds like they just reshuffled the "event" labelling and lazily decided to call it "exploration" just because it's not listed in the contract manager. It makes me feel sad because I am genuinely impressed with the amount of content they are putting out. However, from recent updates, dev commentary, and how gameplay is shaping up, it feels like "the next step in exploration" is slowly being reduced to another high-risk, combat-heavy content — and that’s incredibly disappointing... I have no problem with risk or tension. The unknown should be dangerous. But danger doesn’t have to come in the form of constant PvP, or slaughtering teams of scientists. Not every explorer wants to be in full combat armor, or flying with a fighter escort just to achieve their goal. Exploration shouldn’t feel like another PvP hot zone in disguise. Right now, it feels like gameplay is being designed with the assumption that combat must be part of it — either directly or indirectly. You’re not discovering, you're just bait for pirates and griefers. Exploration needs to stand on its own: Deep scanning mechanics Transient Jump Points? Meaningful data gathering Non-combat puzzles and progression Discoveries that matter, not just loot triggers for the next gunfight I know combat sells, but it’s not the only thing that keeps players engaged. Some of us backed this project to be explorers, not soldiers. Please, CIG — bring exploration to life. Give it depth, give it identity, and stop forcing it through a gung-ho, PvP design lens.
