Im not sure why im making this post, ive seen hundreds of others like it, maybe im hoping someone from CIG would read or respond, but I feel like it needs to be said. CIG isnt doing right by their backers. In the previous ISC, they've shown they intend to spoonfeed us a live service event driven game over an MMO sandbox. No one asked for fomo events, no one asked to be forced into performing specific activities for exclusive rewards, no one asked for time to be spent for temporary events and missions when i think i speak for most of us here, we'd rather see the living breathing universe we were sold. Features like Quanta/StarSim feel pretty much abandoned, and there are no interactable NPCs apart from those spawned by missions or predefined locations. I can name space sims off the top of my head that are able to accomplish this in even the most basic of manners, though star citizen is as barren as a desert. The only emergent gameplay that exists comes from players interacting from other players, when you have to rely on your playerbase to make things done, thats when you know you're struggling with making an entertaining game. In ED for example, my actions of buying and selling commodities, taking contracts, and influencing/undermining factions can lead to events from economic recessions to full blown wars. Star Citizen has been playable for 10 years, and the ONLY, and i repeat, ONLY background simulation we have thus far is buying and selling of commodities effecting other shards. This feature is hardly dynamic either, prices are never adjusted in response to supply and demand, and outpost supplies are always raised or lowered to a minimum or maximum value around every 10 minutes. Thats it. An incredibly simple placeholder system that has been there for ages, yet indie developers with teams of just a few people can make something magnitudes more dynamic. Yet, all we've been promised is the continued feeding of prescripted events, no one wants that, theres nothing dynamic about that. Furthermore, It feels like the PU has been abandoned more and more for SQ42, I know we've been told that one team doesnt take resources from the other, and both are working towards the same tech, but i dont see the results of that. SQ42 multithreaded rendering seems to have been rapidly progressed, yet i see no such thing on the PU client. Features such of maelstrom have been implemented well in SQ42, but wouldnt keeping such a complex system in sync across the PU require massive networking changes? My point is, alot of the features for SQ42 likely wont be easily ported to the PU, and in the road leading up to SQ42's release, the PU seems to be becoming more and more abandoned. Balance, i dont want to go into details here, this is getting long enough, but several balance changes make several options straight up unusable due to current metas, and several ships have their unique selling points completely removed. For example, a selling point of the vanguard was having redundant components as backup systems, yet they were removed with almost no warning, and the warden was advertised as a "long range" patrol and scouting fighter, yet it has the same amount of QT fuel as most heavy fighters, and even the other vanguard variants! Theres many more examples, but i feel like this has gone long enough, I just wanted to state my thoughts on the matter, and perhaps provoke some community discussion revolving around these issues. Im sure we all want star citizen to succeed, but we're owed the game we backed for, and we dont think its fair if CIG starts focus on giving us substitutes instead of what we've all been promised since we started backing this game. SC wouldnt have gotten anywhere without its community, I feel like its time CIG started listening to us and giving back.
