I ask this question, since we are on the "roadmap" to 1.0 As a supporter since 2014 and backer since 2017, I find myself increasingly perplexed and frustrated as we delve deeper into this seemingly limitless crowd funded project. The overall landscape of this endeavour leaves much to be desired. Starcitizen appears to lack a distinct identity. It strives to be unique by reinventing the wheel, but end up being a jack of all trades but seems to master none. I would like to address several key points: Ships and Vehicles The following aspects still lack a comprehensive overview: * Flight System: We require a detailed plan or vision for this. Currently, it seems as though CIG themselves are uncertain of their objectives. There are numerous examples of well-executed “realistic” space flight in games such as X4 and ED. * Insurance (LTI) * Ground Vehicle System including hovercrafts: The current state of affairs is perplexing. Assistance is needed to improve the behaviour of land vehicles. There are numerous games that could serve as references to provide a more realistic feel. * Extent of Multiplayer beyond the engineer in our spaceships (Crew Stations) * Blades and hired crew NPC's * Backlog and older ships: There is a significant backlog, and older ships are far behind in terms of incorporating even the basic new game mechanics. (BMM, Carrack, Caterpillar, 600i, MISC freelancer series or any ship that was developed more than 3 years ago) * Game Missions: There is a noticeable lack of sophisticated AI's in major parts of the game. From the long-awaited bartender (and other vendors) to the seemingly robotic spawns, the universe lacks a sense of life and vitality. The characters, particularly the NPCs in cities and rest stops, have shown little improvement towards a beta game for years now. (This is NOT just server related) Missions that have been in the game for years, such as box missions, are un-completable 95% of the time. This quickly becomes tiresome and frustrating, especially when the focus is on occasional CIG-triggered missions instead of fixing minor bugs that hinder daily gameplay. * Economy & Employment Loops - What is the comprehensive plan for the following gameplay aspects: Repair, Maintenance & Rearm (SHIPS) Science & Research Exploration ?? (How will this work, in system and multiple systems) Big explorations ships cost an arm and a leg - Odyssey, Carrack, 600i Passenger transport - 890 Jump and other Medical, Data running, Trading like in the BMM or the Kraken Salvage, to just name a few? At this point, it seems unclear. The depth of what was once sold seems to be gone to minimal and arcade gameplay based on laser everything. *Death of a Spaceman - The concept around this seems to fluctuate annually. Does it still hold significance? To the extent that we would prefer to use escape pods in our ships, or do we simply engage in combat until death and await the inevitable respawn in a hospital bed? * Economy - What has become of Tony? Communication regarding the system we were shown for years seems to have ceased. It’s as if the hope is for it to quietly fade away. With the introduction of a new economy team, are they utilizing Tony’s dynamic system, or have they started from scratch? If so, how will it function? Will it be dynamic? When will we see items actually mean something in the verse, influencing the aspect of the game from Cargo to piracy to manufacturing etc. *Concierge - What is the current goal? It used to be a goal we strived for, a tangible achievement, a reward for helping realize a dream. Now, it feels insignificant. Communication from those in charge of concierge has been lacking. Despite numerous departures and arrivals promising fresh ideas and communication, nothing has materialized. Many of us aimed for concierge status because it felt like an opportunity to test new features, discuss them, and provide feedback to CIG. Now, we are scattered across different waves. Some gain access when it no longer matters, spoiled by YouTube streamers and developers who no longer respond due to locked-in patches. In conclusion, it feels as though we are adrift, lacking clear direction in major parts of the game, including: - Flight and vehicle system, - The economy, - Multiplayer in ships, - LAW system - PVP/PVE/PVA, - Death of a spaceman, - Future game mechanics, - Insurance (LTi), - The backlog and development of very expensive ships, and the update of older existing ones - HEX code for ships - VOIP - ORG Functionality I want to see ISC and SCL in regard to these subjects, not about things that has been shown over and over since Citizencon last year. What is the future of Starcitizen ? Will I enjoy the game because it seems light-years away from the original goal of at least being a semi PC - SIM Space game. It feels like every department has an idea of what THEY think the game should be like instead of a united complete vision. I did not write this to offend anyone, especially CIG. But it really feels like we are going in circles, never knowing what the end will look like. Asking the same basic questions that seem to be ignored. One would think that after 10 to 12 years of development, these would not be questionable subjects. It just feels like nobody knows how things will fit together and just "wing it" as development goes. What is the "dream" supposed to be... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [UPDATE] - I want so say thank you to CIG. I feel at least "some" of these questions has been answered to some extent. Hopefully we can get more clarity on a lot of the other stuff soon. https://youtu.be/nyl6SquV4rY
