What just happened? Has everyone completely lost their minds? Can someone explain what is going on? Look, I get it. The PTU exists so things can be tested — not just by players, but by the devs too. And yes, I understand the “throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks” philosophy. But whatever is happening right now doesn’t fit any of those categories. From my perspective, this is what happened: CIG adds Engineering and Armor to the game and proudly announces: “TTK should stay roughly the same as before, BUUUUT with Engineering you can now squeeze out even more performance.” Players test it and go: “Huuuuuhhhhhhhhh? Didn’t you say 1) TTK should go up, 2) now you say it should stay the same, but 3) for many ships TTK is now much lower?!” And CIG responds with something like: “Okay okay, we hear you — here’s our solution!” → Reduce armor by 25% and increase damage by ~225%. Because… uhh… uhhhhh… we want to test whether that helps? Or maybe it’s better? Or… honestly, I have no clue. Someone explain it to me — because this isn’t “see what sticks.” This is “throw gasoline on the wall and see what catches fire.” My brain is fried. Either I’m too stupid to understand what their goals are, or their collective brain has simply melted. And it gets even better: They deliver a multi-page design document that's supposed to explain this entire clusterfuck… and it’s full of words but almost no actual information. Shield generators make shields. No shields if generator gone. Radar lets you target things. No radar, no targeting. Engines make you move. Engines broken, no fly-fly. What the actual fuck. Are you serious? Your whole damn attic is on fire. Either that, or I’m just too dumb to understand the galaxy-brain strategy behind this disaster. And that's just the surface. All the details — like reducing everything to two shield generators and giving ships that used to have six or four the same HP as ships that already had two… which means ships that had one now have half the HP of ships that used to have six — and someone actually thought: “Eh whatever, we’ll balance it later.” So now the Scorpius has half the HP of a Redeemer or Retaliator. But no, I don’t even want to keep going. There is sooooo much wrong inside this wrongness that I don’t even know where to start. Too much at once. Too little structure. Too much ‘testing’ that makes no sense. And I can already see them pushing this onto live in 10 days for the next sales event. I know internal testing has definitely taken place. But IT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT AT ALL. It feels like there is no clear structure, no thread, and everything is completely disorganized and without a plan. Jesus. I cannot even. The era of constructive feedback — and I’ve written a ton of that in the last few days — is over. Now it’s time to vent before I uninstall the game — sorry, the alpha — and give my account away. Rant over. --- EDIT: I am already feeling sorry. Because everything surely has a good reason, and I don't want to belittle the hard work of the developers, and I'm sure you're doing your best, but what the fuck—many of us players are very invested in this game. And by that I don't just mean financially, but also emotionally, for a variety of reasons. These people do care about what happens to the game. Sometimes you just have to let off steam. I met my co-pilot in SC and we spent many years together. It was the best time of my life. I lost her far too soon. She's gone and will never come back. But SC has remained, and that's why I associate so much with this game. I don't want to be unfair to anyone... I just... I don't know. I cant write more at this point.
