Is CIG aware of how many things they've done recently that are incredibly unpopular with their players? It's not like a one off thing here, it's repeated decisions that appear to be dropping all at once. We're just numb at this point to the decisions being made. Here's just what I can immediately think about, and I'm sure I'm missing a few that have pissed off your community "recently": Selling Flight Blades on the Store. "fixed" Selling Bomb Racks on the Store. "fixed" Selling the ATLS the very patch tractor beam performance was butchered. "fixed" The whole concept of making/selling MK2 ships and deprecating MK1 ships before we're even out of Alpha is just disgusting. Not testing ships on PTU before LIVE leading to ships just being entirely or mostly nonfunctional on release. (Looking at you Ironclad) Selling bundles of paint/armor instead of selling a paint AND an armor separately which people have been very vocal about disliking. Removing Squadron 42 from buyback WITH ZERO NOTICE and only making a statement a week and a half after it was noticed by the community, instantly screwing tens of thousands of pledges by making them unmeltable (if you want to keep squadron). Selling the Hermes as a "new SKU" instead of being a variant of the Apollo meaning paints don't apply, even though the "MEDBAY" text wasn't removed from the floor of the Hermes meaning it was in fact, copy/pasted. The ENTIRETY of how Defensecon/Free Fly and 4.8 was handled. Changing how game pledges are handled (Oct 1). Permanently locking players into ships because they can only upgrade, never melt their ship if a game package is attached. Instead of making the game package its own thing separate from a ship so the mobility can be maintained. Changing how gifting works so now all gifts have to have a recipient AT PURCHASE effectively killing giveaways that have been commonplace in the community for 12 years. Selling the Sabre Raven EX as some brand new ship while it's just a Sabre Raven with extra guns and a paint job literally overlayed on top of the OG Raven's model. (You can see it when the ship is destroyed) Selling the Ikti, not just a normal one, but a better one after specifically saying you wouldn't. This is more of a personal gripe but I know I'm not alone, Selling 9Tails gear on the store instead of having meaningful gameplay to acquire it in game. Completely invalidating the whole rework you just did to the gang when any random person can own it for cash. Another more personal gripe is that there are still only like 9 paints you can purchase in game. Everything else is on the pledge store or earned through events that no longer exist. This is however, not technically a recent issue, but one I find irritating nonetheless. Game stability/playability in general. I've had some good sessions but I've had equally as many frustrating and angering sessions due to bugs that have existed for year after year. Name dropping specifically the Hangar bugs. The most important part of the game, the hangar, has a 50/50 shot of just destroying or blipping your ship out of existence any time you use the ASOP not in the hangar. The delay of Squadron 42, whether people believe it to be a valid or invalid excuse, still feels really bad after all this time. And most importantly of all, The sheer absence of communication. Videos, Posts, even just Discussions. The community feels like we don't get talked to. Chris even acknowledged it in the Inside CIG post and his letter. We don't get shown anything. Sure a dev will pop in occasionally and make X comment on a topic they're familiar with, it's very appreciated, but far from common. We miss when CIG showed us what they were working on, things to look forward to, and now we don't get basically anything except for a gutted "roadmap" that only shows one patch out, or we get a video on the patch as its being released. I'm making this post in good faith, not trying to make digs or anything. I just want to make sure that CIG is aware of how angry your community is at you. I want to make sure that CIG is aware of, specifically, the REASONS your community is frustrated. Why Spectrum is a nonstop vortex of spite right now and has been for months. I want this project to succeed. Pretty much all of us here that take the time to read Spectrum at all do. Even most of the people over on the Reddit or Discords or Leak channels. We want Star Citizen, Squadron 42, and CIG to succeed. But we have to say when enough is enough. People are mad. And rightfully so. Maybe you're trying to make all the hard decisions all at once so we don't have to do it again in another two years. Maybe it's just unfortunate timing. But it's getting to be too much. Every week I find myself bracing for what horrid decision will be made. That's not healthy for me, the community, or the game. We need to see some goodwill from CIG's part sooner rather than later. Something to make us happy on our side of the fence. Give people a P4-AR and an apology, something. Anything. But this behavior cannot continue indefinitely. Edit: Please keep it civil, I want this to stay up. Don't make this into a CIG BAD or CIG GOOD post. But it does need to be discussed.
