Seriously, CIG? Again? Why don't you allow all backers to name our ships as we like? Ship name reservation is a crap concept. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/16995-Drake-Corsair-Sail-The-Stars As a special incentive, all Warbond Corsairs come with the ability to reserve a custom name for the ship, unique across the Corsair chassis. Certain restrictions apply: this name must be a 32-ascii character limit with no consecutive spaces or dashes allowed. CIG reserves the right to deny names that violate code of conduct. To name your ship, simply visit your hangar after purchase and view your Corsair for naming options. Edit: Added the portion where CIG tell us that we only can check for available names after buying the ship. Edit 2: Added reference to polls regarding the ship naming system courtesy of @Swash https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/12959-Poll-Star-Citizens-Naming-System We just don’t want the game world to look trashy. You’ve seen this in every multiplayer game ever: one lucky person got “Maverick” the first day the game went live and so you invariably end up fighting to the death against people like “Maverick 54,” “xXx Maverick xXx,” “Da Real Maverick” and, worst of all, M@v3r1ck. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but a fighter pilot kind of stinks. All these simple tricks to bypass the one-name-per-customer system end up taking everyone out of the reality of the world.
