Angry rant. i know it's a bit far fetched but i wouldn't mind cig/spectrum mods just god damn banning the people pumping crypto bs here. you either have to be extremely short sighted and naive or a scumbag con to say mixing a game with crypto would be good for cig and for the actual players. really it would be good only for the crypto pumpers who would not be interested in the game at all and only interested in exploiting the currency for irl profits, thus ruining any chance of having an economy that reflects what is happening in game and/or forcing the hypothetical crypto sc meme coin to be more diluted and worthless than monopoly money. yeah it would attract a lot of people, the type of people you don't want to attract. breathe. Damn i am sick of this dumb idea it fails to take into account the fundamentals of the game's design too, like, just watch tonyz's presentation on the quantum economic nodes or whatever he calls it, essentially if there's an npc mining aluminum, and that aluminum is (after some steps) turned into a powerplant, which is then supposedly sold for 'xxx' amount in accordance with the background simulation of what is happening in game, then by inserting crypto we suddenly have: 1. a worthless currency (call it the crisrobertscoin) that wasted time and resources from CIG that would be better off spent in getting my god damn merchantman from concept to flight ready game development, since it is no different than what we already (would) have but with extra steps (that's bad), but also 2. a game market that is suddenly a slave to outside market (irl) forces that go well beyond the player base (how many fuckign dogecoin is this crisrobertscoin? the same 10 or so crypto posters we seen this week will flood the internet forums telling you crisrobertscoin is worth .50 dogecoin?! oh my god i better go buy 100 fucking dogecoin then, right?... guess who fucking owned that dogecoin? ding ding the crypto pumpers who can now profit nicely by selling off their worthless memecoin at the expense of real player money), and also which then (eventually, most likely extremely quickly) forces CIG to a choice of a) dilute by inserting infinite crisrobertscoin generated by the game simulation/npcs, therefore destroying all value for anything that has already been paid for by real money by us, the backers and players (again making the crypto obsolete) or b) since the crisrobertscoin has crashed to a value so low the background simulation is now only grimhex in every planet, station and star systems (that's a lot of grim hexes) and every npc is smoking crack and a would be pirate if they could afford a busted buccaneer which they no longer can, a new secondary in game currency would have to be introduced, let's call it UEC. full fucking circle. so gtfo with your crypto bs. TLDR; crypto idea bad, shoot on sight with the idris ban railgun, kill it before it lays eggs.
