Does anyone else have the same experience? At this point, my friends are pretty clearly refusing to play as turret gunners on the Idris anymore — and honestly, I can understand why. There are several reasons for this. First, the turrets are simply not fun. The firing arcs feel extremely limited, and while part of that obviously depends on the pilot’s skill — in this case, mine — the practical result is always the same: it is almost impossible to keep smaller and more agile targets in a useful firing position. Ships, including even the Perseus, can basically circle the Idris while we struggle to bring meaningful fire onto them. Second, the laser is still completely useless. I spent around 20 minutes firing continuously at a Perseus, and the result was honestly embarrassing. Third, the turret health feels far too low. Smaller ships can repeatedly ram the Idris and destroy turrets, which makes the experience even more frustrating for the crew. And that is the real problem: it is not just about balance numbers on paper. It is about gameplay. Right now, being a turret gunner on the Idris is boring, frustrating, and unrewarding. My friends do not want to do it anymore — and I cannot really blame them. For a capital ship that is supposed to rely on crew gameplay, that is a serious design problem.
