Call me crazy, but these new Item Kiosks are about as backwards, and unnecessary as possible.. It doesn't add immersion, or depth to the gameplay either. I'd literally rather have to walk back to my apartment, than deal with these things, at least that would be immersive. These kiosks are more steps and annoyances, and no, they are not more immersive.. It's the same magic box as the current inventory system, with more steps. What's worse, is it is a lot of largely wasted development time. Some artist had to design them, a modeler model them, and texture them, and a level designer place them, while a programmer codes it all, with a new UI artist, designing the UI, etc. etc. etc... that's a lot of wasted time, money, effort, and development that was wholly 100% unnecessary.. Meanwhile, they could have more easily separated the 100's of different apartments into separate entities (this is already basically done in the server, no new magic. It's just cutting out that room, and making it its own instance assigned to the player, which again, is already done in many ways in this game). Then created interactions with the closet, and drawers, that accessed your current inventory. That's it.. phase 1 done. More immersive, and plays exactly into what most people expected I would imagine, for what was always sold as in Star Citizen, being an immersive experience.. Now you didn't have to waste massive amounts of money, with 15 different people tied up for hundreds of hours to design 1 utterly useless thing nobody likes, with new code, and UI design, and everything else that utterly goes against the grain of the game (being immersive). It's easy as pie too. Login, assign player an apartment. (multiple people can even be assigned to the same apartment, they'll only be accessing their own inventory). Interact with the new interaction on the closet, or drawer to access inventory, drag and drop as it is now. Done. GG. I'd highly prefer that over this...
