To the Attention of Cloud Imperium Games and Community Management, As a long-term backer and veteran who has financially supported this project since its most uncertain days, I am writing to express my absolute rejection and deep indignation regarding the recent disabling of pledges within the Buy Back system, specifically affecting packages that include Squadron 42. This maneuver, executed silently and without any prior warning, represents one of the most disappointing and "underhanded" actions CIG has taken toward its most loyal user base for the following reasons: Blocking of Squadron 42: Many of us backed the single-player campaign when it was nothing more than a concept. Blocking the ability to reclaim these packages through the legitimate use of Store Credits is, in practice, a penalty against the veteran’s flexibility and a slight to those of us who originally funded the game. Lack of Ethics and Communication: It is unacceptable for CIG to be extremely vocal during marketing campaigns and new sales, yet act with total opacity when withdrawing acquired rights. Executing this change "through the back door," without an official statement or a grace period to react, is a flagrant lack of respect for the community. Inconsistency and Arbitrariness: CIG has proven they are capable of providing advance notice when it suits them. Doing so for some changes but not for others is a deliberate choice that sows distrust. You cannot change the rules of the game overnight, affecting the fleet management of veterans in such a gratuitous manner. Erosion of the Project’s Future: Acting behind the community's back is a grave strategic error. This negative "turn of the screw" only breeds toxicity and discouragement, breaking the bond of trust that serves as the engine of this project. We demand an immediate rectification or, at the very least, a formal explanation. The development of the "best damn space sim ever" cannot be used to justify opaque business practices that harm the original investors. A company that prides itself on transparency must demonstrate it through actions, not just promotional videos. We request that this stance be re-evaluated and that the commitment made to the veterans—who made it possible for Star Citizen to get where it is today—be respected.
