TL;DR: Get caught once? You pay. Get caught twice? You suffer. Get caught a third time? You live like a real fugitive. Griefers and Pirates Need real Penalties, legal hauler risk lot more than griefer and pirate Right now, piracy is all reward, no or very low real risk. Blow up a hauler, loot it, gain CS, and if things go south? Respawn and try again. Here’s what should change: AUEC Bounties & Fines Every act of unlawful destruction, cargo theft, or murder adds a bounty paid from the pirate’s account automatically if they got caught. If they don’t have enough AUEC, their assets get “flagged” or repossessed except starter ships. Think: ship lockouts, loss of upgrades. Insurance Lockouts Repeat pirates/griefer should lose coverage from major manufacturers. Only Drake, and maybe outlaw factions, will insure their ships—and at insane waiting time(for real time days to weeks) High Risk Offenders can only get insurance from underground brokers, who charge 5x the cost and require shady side jobs for coverage. Escalating Consequences(similar to kingdom come deliverance 2) For every criminal got caught every time: Strike 1: Standard penalties(jail and AUEC fines to compensate victim). Strike 2: Higher AUEC fines, make prison time lot more(in days), ship and personnel will not allowed to equip weapons when enter lawful system for certain period of time. Strike 3+: Permits revoked, no more access to core system missions for very long time, global comms restriction, and only outlaw bases accept you, and for ship insurance they shall be 30--10% of ship's original price based on the rep in that faction. “Reputation Decay Lock” No more insta-cleansing. Your criminal record stays public for 30 real-time days, and lawful factions treat you as hostile until then. Only these penalties will deal with griefers that just kill for fun to force them at least become a pirate that aim to gain profit from victims. Actions have consequences. If you're logging in just to ruin someone else's day, the game should ruin yours right back, which is fair and that's how risk goes both side for high risk high reward Especially currently pirate and griefers only have high reward with unfairly very low risk
