I know SC is still an alpha and there is plenty of time for things to change but it is best that we bring up criticism now for CIG to see rather than bringing it up later. My first point is, have you ever tried being in a standard survival server in ARK? Because those types of hardcore servers always have very few people on them. Maybe it could be because hardcore survival is NOT FUN and does not attract new players. I know I will get the people rushing to this comment talking about how hardcore survival is necessary for immersion and all that other nonsense or I will get the people who will call me a troll despite me trying to give some constructive criticism to this game. There are plenty of games I have played that are plenty immersive and don't have all the hardcore survival mechanics. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Witcher games are incredibly immersive and they don't force you to drink water and eat food every second like what some people want in Star Citizen, or the people who want to be forced to poop because nothing is more immersive than taking a virtual sh*t. People may argue that these games aren't immersive because of the infinite backpack and other perks but that is not the case. Being immersed doesn't mean the game has to be hyper-realistic. I am not saying they should eliminate food from the game, but it should just be something that gives you a minor buff. The new oxygen system is doesn't seem so bad but it shouldn't require you to return to your ship just to regen your oxygen energy or whatever the new term is for it as it just makes you feel super attached to your ship. A better way to do this is where once you run out of oxygen energy you are forced to walk in order for the suit's CO2 filters to regen their energy. Now onto the ships. COCKPIT VIEW IS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A BALANCING FEATURE. Otherwise, that is all I have to say regarding ships right now besides CIG taking the easy route for modularity but that is for a completely different post. The people who want these hardcore survival mechanics are a vocal minority. This game was originally intended to be a fun space sim not a survival simulator. You can have immersion without hardcore systems. Now I know CIG has set goals for certain systems but these can be changed in the future. I would like CIG to focus more on the "fun" aspect of the game rather than the survival portion. And finally, I hope this game doesn't turn into a grindfest like GTA Online where you have to play for hours upon hours to even afford a decent car. We know there are multiple ways to earn money in game whether it be cargo hauling, salvaging, piracy, selling exploration data, and missions so I don't think Star Citizen will turn into a grindy game but I am just putting this out as a warning. This post may seem all over the place and that is just because I am speaking what came to my mind at the time of typing. I assume the people reading this have common sense and can determine what I am saying. Stay on topic in the replies as I want to hear some community thoughts and what people feel about hardcore survival mechanics and how they'd like them to be implemented. I am asking about what the community wants and not about what CIG has stated things will be like. Consider what I said about Ark and other survival games like Hellion as well. Thank you for reading. Edit: A simple way to remove some tediousness from these mechanics is to make your character eat, shower, and poop while logged off.
