Have you guys (devs) discussed the fact that as a result of Master Modes, there is a long list of ships that you wouldn't want to get caught dead in against a handful of ships belonging to the medium fighter/heavy fighter/Medium Freighter/Medium Gunship/Large Gunship/S2 Exploration/Corvette classes? From someone who notoriously enjoys PVP and still engages in PVE, I think it's important to share my thoughts and begin the discussion. As a result of ship slow down and inability to defensively maneuver in space or atmo, combat has been simplified to an aim and shoot game, not much different than your average FPS game. As a result small/medium "highly maneuverable" fighters are now destroyed with ease, in a lot of cases 2-3 kilometers away even when attempting defensive maneuvers at that range. In legacy most of the ships I am going to mention, were able to hold their own in any PVP scenario as long as the pilot spent the time practicing their maneuvering and aim.. Some were pretty great in PVP and now they are fairly useless. Lets get started with the most useless "fighter designated" ships as a result of Master Modes. The moment these ships are detected by another player or NPC, they are as good as dead. These ships were amazing in legacy, didn't take many shots to kill, but as a result of their high maneuverability and speed, they were extremely hard to hit. A skilled pilot was able to take on a heavy fighter with these ships.. Now a skilled pilot wouldn't want to be caught in one. When purchasing these ships with real money, they should come with disclaimers from CIG stating that they have zero ability to meet the expectations of their intended career/role in game. Most Useless "Fighter Designated" ships. Most of these ships relied on their high rates of speed, extreme maneuvering abilities, and small cross sections to make them viable in Legacy mode. Master Modes has made these ships irrelevant in PVP and Most PVE situations. -Mirai Fury (Snug Fighter/Combat) Once capable of taking on the fighter gods, these things can't even get close to a Corsair before being swatted like mosquito 2kms out. -Mirai Fury MX (Snub Fighter/Combat) -Kruger P-52 Merlin (Snub Fighter/Combat) Even worse than the Fury now -Origin 125A (Light Fighter/Combat) Is this light fighter now intended for combatting ground troops? -Origin 325A (Interceptor/Combat) -Mirai Razor EX (Stealth Fighter/Combat) Relied completely on it's stealth ability, maneuverability, speed and pilot skill in legacy... Now goes boom from a distance the moment it's detected. -RSI Aurora LN (Light Fighter/Combat) -RSI Aurora ES (Starter/Pathfinder/Multi-Role) -RSI Aurora MR (Light Fighter/Combat) -Drake Buccaneer (Light Fighter/Combat) Despite what some streamers might say, if you aren't dead by the 4th joust, you are lucky. -C.O. Mustang Alpha (Starter/Light Freight/Multi-Role) -C.O. Mustang Delta (Light Fighter/Combat) -Banu Defender (Light Fighter/Combat) Larger cross section than some heavy fighters but with only 13k hp.. Need I say more -Aopoa Khartu-al (Light Fighter/Combat) -Anvil Hawk (Light Fighter/Combat) Dead/Spinning out of control before you can even get close enough to hit an NPC/Player with the EMP. -Aegis Sabre Firebird (Stealth Fighter/Combat) -Aegis Sabre Raven (Interceptor/Combat) -Aegis Eclipse (Stealth Bomber/Combat) Always completely useless in PVP unless you hit the lottery and hit someone while they were making a coffee. After the Xenothreat event, it's now questionable that these are even useful against an Idris supported by multiple Hammerheads in a PVE engagement. Because of the slowdown of ships and missiles, the torps are way too slow to be effective and are normally shot down before hitting their target. -Aegis Avenger Stalker (Interceptor/Combat) -Aegis Avenger Warlock (Interceptor/Combat -Aegis Avenger Titan (Courier/Transporter) "Couple that available space with the Avenger's tried and true combat abilities and you've got a light cargo hauler that's more than capable of handling itself in a fight" -Aegis Avenger Renegade (Courier/Transporter) "This Avenger Titan comes equipped with a specialized dogfighting focused loadout and a custom special edition livery honoring this iconic ship." -Crusader Ares Star Fighter Inferno (Heavy Fighter/Combat) A ship intended for "hunting big ships solo"... Ask anyone who attempted Xenothreat in either Ares how they felt after approaching the Idris/Hammerheads at 210m/s.. -Crusader Ares Star Fighter Ion (Heavy Fighter/Combat) This baby is equipped with a laser to "deliver extremely powerful shots to quickly disable the shields of even the biggest enemy vessels"... Xenothreat Disagrees -Esperia Blade (Light Fighter/Combat) 7,300 hp, maneuvers like a turd... slow -RSI Scorpius Antares (Heavy Fighter/Combat) Activating the QD ensures your destruction when in combat. -Crusader A1 Spirit (Bomber/Combat) You aren't fast enough or strong enough in SCM mode to make it anywhere close enough to the ground to bomb an area protected by a fighter (even some of the fighters designated as "useless" on this list.) (Special Mentions for Most Useless "Fighter Designated ships" even though they aren't fighter designated) - Mirai Razor LX (Racing/Competition) Even though the LX was intended for racing this ship was objectively the better fighter between the Base/EX/LX models, due to it having 2 shields and more maneuverability. A highly skilled pilot in a Razor EX or LX was an absolute menace to Light/Medium/Heavy fighters and a pest to anything larger. -Origin M50 "Interceptor" (Racing/Competition) The M50 just like the Razor LX was intended for racing, however they were extremely agile and as a result great in combat. Why racing ships even have weapons on them post-Master Modes, is beyond me at this point. CIG may as well remove the weapons from the M50 and Razor, they aren't going to save the pilot in any sort of combat. Fairly Useless "Fighter Designated" ships. These ships also relied on their high rates of speed and maneuvering abilities to make them viable in Legacy Mode, but can somewhat hold their own when piloted by the top 1% of pilots.... if the top 1% of pilots feel the need to be challenged. -Anvil Arrow (Light Fighter/Combat) I believe the arrow deserves the "fairly useless" designation, since the ship is still somewhat viable when in the hands of the top 1-5% of pilots. -Aegis Sabre (Stealth Fighter/Combat) The moment the Sabre and it's variants are detected, it's as good as dead with it's large cross section. Still slightly better than the Firebird and Raven variants since the ship has double the firepower. -Aegis Sabre Comet (Stealth Fighter/Combat) -Esperia Glaive (Medium Fighter/Combat) Too slow in MM, DPS is mid, and only 11k hp... Still somewhat useable by the top 1-5% of pilots but not preferred by them. It's outclassed by the Sabre which received the same designation. -Van Duul Scythe (Medium Fighter/Combat) Same as Esperia Glaive Various ships that you absolutely would not want to be caught flying in SCM mode in, in the event that hostile NPCs or Players arrive. Keep in mind, In legacy players had just enough shield/speed/maneuverability in these ships to evade hostile NPCs/Players. -Anvil C8 Pisces -Anvil C8R Pisces Rescue -Anvil C8X Pisces Expedition -Crusader C1 Spirit -Drake Cutter -Drake Cutter Rambler -Drake Cutter Scout -Drake Herald -Gatac Syulen -Origin 100I -Origin 135C -Origin 300I -Origin 315P -Origin 350R -Origin 85X (Luxury/Exploration) what even is the purpose of this ship at this point, I'm dying for someone to explain it to me. -RSI Aurora CL -RSI Aurora LX -C.O. Mustang Beta -C.O. Mustang Gamma -C.O. Mustang Omega -Kruger P-72 Archimedes Although these are designated Racing/Competition, these were actually once decent "snub fighters". -Kruger P-72 Archimedes Emerald -Mirai Razor I welcome criticism of this list from the community and look forward to feedback from the Devs. I still cannot wrap my mind around the changes that were made between Legacy and Master Modes or the feedback coming from some devs such as, "TTK being too slow" and ships being "Too fast" still. Objectively, Legacy gave many of the ships mentioned above a purpose or the ability get away from hostile players/NPCs, Master Modes has stripped their usefulness in combat or ability to run. As someone who has been labeled a "griefer", It has become far too easy to prey on the ships listed above and it shouldn't be. As a final question.. How can you (the devs) bring balance to Master Modes? Sure it's been asked before... However, have the devs taken into consideration that because ship combat has now become almost strictly based on aim/DPS/HP with almost no maneuverability, the only potential way to bring balance is by giving every single fighter ship the same HP and DPS. Defensive/offensive maneuvering is pretty much impossible at the speeds Master Modes has limited everyone to. At this point have you considered scrapping all fighter ships and giving everyone the same ship? it's likely the only way to truly find "balance" when aim is now the deciding factor of a fight.
