I'm all for progressing Item Recovery, but incorporating a further tax to replace ships as we customize them because of the game taking them away regularly is not the right call. This gameplay feature should be free to begin with for testing, or at the very least priced identically to a stock expedited claim. And when I say 'keep a ship alive' I don't mean not crashing it into something (even an invisible asteroid) or having it blown up by NPCs or players. I mean try to keep it from: Going from stored to unknown for no reason and lost permanently Getting eaten by the station when using docking collars Floating off the landing pad/hangar and becoming inaccessible because every ship is retrieved with engines fully powered on FOR SOME REASON Disappearing to the center of the star system because we flew a snub >25km away, rendering its quantum beacon worthless Purpling out because the hangar elevator ate it Flat out disappearing for literally no reason Flying away from you in quantum (because you clipped through the floor) and then having its beacon (yet again) disappear to the center of the star system Being deleted by a shard-wide 30k Being lost in a server that failed to properly recover (server recovery failure, not 30k) You get the idea... For anyone not a CIG dev: How often do you claim a ship because it's been lost due to your own error or legitimately destroyed, vs how often do you claim a ship for any of the above reasons? Not interested in claims for convenience or laziness in this thread — that's a totally different discussion around vehicle transport.
