There is something very important to consider, and that's HOW they (CIG) chose to nerf the Ares (Ion & Inferno, not just Ion as everyone seems to think) and why it sets a very bad precedent. There are 3 ways we use guns: Fixed, Gimballed and Gimbal assisted For a very long time, fixed was the inferior choice, by far. Then the devs did something very good, they intro'ed fixed assist and auto-convergence (Bravo CIG). These helped with 'nudging' bullets on target to their mark, so things like server desync didn't cause us to miss shots. We still needed to aim properly so no, this wasn't easy mode. This was done to all fixed weapons and for a long time things were good. We also had the best controller parity ever which is why mouse Vs stick posts mostly ended. Now with the Ares' the nerf, other than the ION repeater bullshit everyone is so focused on, what they chose is to remove both fixed assist and auto-convergence. So to be clear, a very positive & game dev advancing feature was removed from 2 ships. That's as bad as saying "the FPS is low on planets so lets remove all textures as a fix". Now the ships miss most shots on Hammerheads at 800 meters. The issues are progression needs to go forward and this move takes things backwards which just puts us in an infinite loop of "alpha forever' It also gives the impression that devs at CIG communicate poorly with each other. A crucial feature that corrected the usability of all fixed weapons should never have been iconsidered as something to remove when balancing ships, especially when all it does is break them (and these two ships are now fundamentally broken). Yet here we are with devs doing just that, clearly not realizing what they've done. Pandora's box is now opened, and any good tech can easily be removed by developers with poor ideas. When CIG nerfs, they nerf HARD, then move on. 4 patches in and they haven't bothered to scale back any of game breaking Ares & Redeemer nerfs. Months/ years have passed since the Raven / Prowler / Glaive / Cutlass / etc were rendered useless, and no one at CIG cares to acknowledge these. Some may argue that "Not a single number, not a single spec and not a single feature is even close to end game yet." Why though? Isn't SQ42 supposed to be almost done, and flight + ship combat mechanics along with it? Certain jobs are far from done and server meshing + new planets are soon (but not too soon) coming, but shouldn't things like space combat and the flight model be approaching a point of completion after close to 10 years? They actually do need to tighten things up and get settled at some point, and not get free passes on the blanket 'Alpha forever' stance some in the community are all too keen to defend with. We need to push back on these backwards, game breaking nerfs and the zero communication that came with them, and we shouldn't just drop this. CIG, please respond. We're tired of having to sweep ships under the rug. @JCrewe_CIG @YogiKlatt-CIG TLDR: fixed assist and auto-convergence are crucial, removing them from ships should not be an option and is game breaking
