I am reading through the forums today and once again we have another thread demanding that CIG take drastic measures to protect PvE players in Stanton. The script is always identical. They start by claiming they completely respect the PvP community and absolutely do not want PvP removed. Then in the exact same breath they suggest mechanics that would entirely nuke player combat from orbit. They want 24 hour unskippable real time prison sentences for a single kill. They want invincible AI police fleets that instantly teleport in and vaporize anyone who so much as targets a cargo ship. You do not actually want a shared multiplayer universe. You want PvP to be so excessively muted that it effectively ceases to exist. You just want to be completely safe while you print money. What absolutely blows my mind about these demands for a perfectly safe universe is that PvE players are already living in a bubblewrap utopia. If you look at the game right now, almost every single mission is designed entirely around isolated PvE. CIG gave us Onyx locations. We have QV stations. We have the new Rock Breaker content. There are literally hundreds of these locations scattered across the system for each of these activities. The sheer volume of places you can go to grind in absolute peace is staggering. You have to actively try to stumble into a PvP hotspot at this point. Yet somehow having hundreds of completely uncontested locations to farm credits is not enough. They want the entire system wrapped in cotton. If you guys actually get what you are asking for and PvP gets shoved into a tiny corner, you are going to destroy the foundation of the game you claim to love. The entire economy of a sandbox MMO relies on friction and risk. Why would anyone ever crew a turret on a hauling ship if there is zero threat of an organic player ambush? Why would an industrial org ever hire a mercenary escort? The mercenary gameplay loop completely dies if the only enemies in the game are lobotomized AI ships that fly in a straight line and pose zero actual threat. And I see the exact same argument popping up in the replies every time. People say if you want to fight, just go to Pyro and leave Stanton to the peaceful space truckers. You cannot segregate the community like that and expect the game to function. The highest profit margins and the best materials have to come with the highest risk of someone else wanting to take them from you. If you can just plot a route, point your ship at a selling terminal, and watch YouTube on your second monitor without ever checking your radar, we are not playing a space sim anymore. We are playing a waiting room simulator. Nobody is saying the current law system is flawless. Obviously crime needs meaningful consequences and high security space should actually feel like high security space. But there is a massive gulf between tweaking the justice system and begging the developers to magically enforce absolute peace everywhere you go. The heart of Star Citizen is the unpredictable danger of a living universe. The sudden radar ping, the tense standoff, the intensity when a pirate group pulls you out of quantum. That is emergent gameplay. Single player games exist if you want absolute predictable safety. Stop trying to rip the soul out of the game just because you refuse to fly around a camped orbital marker.
