I'm sure many of you will agree that one of the most captivating aspects of Star Citizen is its commitment to realism and immersion. The time and distance mechanics create a rich, expansive universe that we can explore and interact with in various ways. However, I've found that the pendulum may have swung too far in favor of immersion at the cost of fun and accessibility, particularly for those of us who may have limited playtime. As a player with a rather tight schedule (just a couple of hours every other day), I've been somewhat frustrated with the downtime associated with ship recovery. When my ship gets destroyed, the cooldown can take up a significant portion of my gaming time. Imagine spending minutes just to get to the metro, only to be met with a wait before you can set off into the cosmos. While it might be a realistic simulation of time, it's not exactly thrilling gameplay for those of us with limited free time. It's even more disheartening when you consider that these waits can represent a high time of our playtime. Another point of contention is the interstellar shopping system. While it's exciting to fly to different planets to acquire specific components, like a quantum drive, the logistics of it can sometimes dampen the fun. If we juxtapose this system with modern day conveniences, it's akin to needing to fly across countries to buy a simple item which could just as easily be delivered to your doorstep. If Amazon can deliver items within 30 minutes in the year 2023, why is it such an ordeal to get a quantum drive in the year 2951? I completely understand and appreciate the vision behind these mechanics, and the desire to create a living, breathing universe. But it seems prudent to strike a balance between realism and entertainment. Perhaps a system could be implemented where equipment like quantum drives could be ordered remotely and delivered within a reasonable timeframe? This could add another layer of immersion in the form of in-game delivery services. As for the ship recovery time, some form of expedited recovery could be offered, especially for those with limited playtime. I love this game, and I'm fully committed to its long-term success. But as we journey forward, let's remember to ensure that Star Citizen is as enjoyable as it is immersive. We are, after all, here to have fun. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this issue and any suggestions you might have. Fly safe and see you in the 'verse.
