Hey CIG, I wanted to let your letter on the roadmap simmer a bit , because admittedly, it did sting a little. I don't usually get upset at a game , or things about a game or in a game for more than second or 2 , but your community letter / roadmap update did actually hit a little nerve. I can't speak for all backers , but who i can speak for is Me, my brother, and my Father , who all backed this project in 2012 during the kickstarter. (i was 32 then , now i'm 42) I bought enough digital scouts for myself and all my children and a couple of friends, my brother bought enough for him and 5 of his closest friends, along with a larger package, and my father bought the same. Why did we do this? Probably like many others we wanted a cool chris roberts game simulated in his own sci-fi galaxy, with his own ideas, fictions and idea of space combat, fun, made-up space physics and everything else that comes with a chris roberts game. Gathered from his past games that we all loved, we backed the game to get another single or coop space opera/epic with a cool galaxy to go play in afterwards with our friends and family. I do think that CIG has gotten away from a lot of these ideas and has in turn changed things to try and be more "realistic" which i personally don't like. I don't care for realism at all , i just want the game to be fun and continuitous in its own lore. Handwavium is fine with me and often very much preferred. This said , i still believe in this project, but i have much lower expectations for CIG now. I won't be spending any more of my hard earned money investing in a project just to be called a "distraction". I'm not directly offended by CIG thinking that the community is "noise" , but more disappointed in this attitude, kind of like i'm disappointed when my dog takes a poo on the floor instead of asking to go outside, or tears up toilet paper in the bathroom because he doesnt get his walk that day. I did expect more, but i guess i shouldnt have. I expected the roadmap update to be more communication , not less. I expected the community outreach to get better, not worse. I expected the moderation on the forums to be better and more backer/customer centric, not more locked down and seemingly censor-crazy. I've put in many, many IC reports and forum suggestions and played this game for a great many hours, but I don't know if I'll be able to sustain this level of support anymore. I guess I just want you to continue on your goals and not blame the backers that invested in this game and the reason you exist at all for your failures. Stuff Happens, communicate the stuff, let people vent, and move on. don't have thin skin or take it as anything but venting , We are here to support this game and play it, and want it to succeed , keep building your game. Thanks for your time , I'll continue to play the game and hope for the best.
