It has no special scanning gear or jump point mapping gear, they recommend bringing a Terrapin if you want to do real scanning. It can only mine Quantanium, nothing else. And it can only use it for fuel for itself, it cannot store it. It cannot take Quantanium from another ship (such as a carried Prospector), it must get it on its own. Won't that be fun. It has no special refueling functions in the hangar, you have to schlepp fuel to your carried ship by hand. MISC thinks 'a panoramic view' only matters left to right, who could possibly care about looking up or down in space? So basically the Odyssey itself isn't actually an exploration vessel, it's a general purpose expedition platform. What it does when it gets someplace depends on what ship you packed in the hangar. The Odyssey alone is just a range/duration extender for the ship it carries, that's all.
