I bought a Javelin, a few other concepts and some upgrades at IAE, spending around £3,000 GBP and will no longer pledge new money to SC. The release of 4.5 into the holiday period completely ignored prior cries from the community to not dump and run in features that leave us with a broken gameplay. See the top post on Spectrum on what happened last year and the lessons that should have been learned. Yet here we are again, numerous broken game loops, newly released content that doesn't work, sounds bugs that causing crashing, inventory loading issues, ships not calling from ASOP, the list goes on. The Chairman letter recapping on 2025 is tone deaf. So many positive claims, yet the game has been in development for over 10 years and you still cannot easily form groups, add/remove friends, a most basic multiplayer function. Tech debt is, in my eyes, beyond manageable given the constant release of new features, where new ships, content is dumped and run, not to be revisited for months if not years. I spent £1,300 on an Idris P back in May and the laser still does not work properly. How many ships do you own or fly that have issues? Lets be realistic, it's taken 14 years to get here, with the content we see today in this Alpha mostly in various stages of brokenness, incomplete or vastly outdated, how long do you think it will take to address these issues on top of the constant churn of new content that disregards any and all previous feedback and lessons learned? SQ42 has been integral to this entire project and the reaffirmed message that it will drop in 2026 is concerning when it comes along side a message of no lead up marketing. Really? No hype, no shouting from the roof tops that as a game developer, a major milestone is about to be reached which addresses all of the negative naysayers over the years about the efficacy and legitimacy of the entire project. It's bizarre and either signifies a complete unwavering belief that SQ42 has already sold itself, or they have lost complete confidence in the end product and are doing a dump and run just to get it out the door where the massively expected release of GTA6 will dwarf all marketing and gaming outlets, meaning the dump and run SQ42 will have limited exposure and press. Where was the SQ42 hype at Con for the very gamers that will consume this product? The overall theme throughout is for CIG to dump and run. I have supported this project so far, but my confidence in what we have been left with at the end of 2025, which was the year of stability, the very tone deaf chairman message and the apparent brushing of SQ42 under the carpet has made me refund for these very reasons. Ill await SQ42 in 2026 with eager anticipation.
