... then bad news. Things are only going to get worse. Here are some of the features you are unlikely to look forward to: - Components wearing down and having to be maintained - Death of a spaceman giving consequences to your death - Healing certain wounds will involve a lot more then a "Magical Medi pen that can heal everything" solution. Getting to a Medical bay will be a requirement in some cases. - Your Infinite character inventory will be gone after Icache. So you will have to manage inventory in your ships, rooms, personal hangars, etc... If you don't like managing inventory, Have fun with that! - Claiming your ship will most likely not be as easy as it is now. Losing a ship has little to no consequences at the moment. That won't last forever. - Insuring your cargo and other items inside your ship will be a thing to manage as well. - Think QT travel is long now? Wait until we get new systems. Where plotting optimal courses (Safety vs the shortest route) will be a thing. Stanton isn't very big frankly. So get ready for Systems that are twice if not Three times that size. Oh the joy of 20 minutes QTs! (And actually foods and drinks contribute to making that down time easier, but more on that later) - Some systems won't have the convenience of cities and stations. Depending on what you are flying you may rely on others for basic services like refueling, repairing, rearming. And yes.... Getting a freaking :pizza: - When localized damaged and armor V1 is added, blowing up with your ship might not be the only outcome. You could just end up being disabled. Stuck on a planet or in the void of space. Hell, just colliding with an asteroid by accident could put your ship in that situation and leave you stranded. With death of space man, you will require help from others to get out of that sticky situation. - and that's just a start. If you think having to eat a :hamburger: and drink :tropical_drink: once every few hours is too much of a pain? Well... Things are not going to get better for you I'm afraid. Now... /Sarcasm off. Look, I perfectly understand the fact that folks don't want SC to be a survival game like day Z or Rust where you have to constantly watch out for food (Most of us don't want that, I think we can all agree) . But just because you are going to have to eat and drink to keep your character in shape doesn't mean that you are going to struggle to survive. The Verse is not a world where hunger and starvation are a thing (With minor exceptions, like exploring far regions of space and being stranded). Food is everywhere and it seems you only need to feed/drink after a couple of hours. Think of this feature not as survival mechanic, but as an immersive one to keep you busy. I understand those who have concerns on how this is balanced and by all means, if the time to starvation is too short, we need to let CIG know that they need to balance it out. But we can't do that until we actually test the feature once PTU goes live. However, I can't wrap my head around those who want eating and drinking to be OUT entirely because they don't want to bother with it. I mean... You do realize that this is a game with a LOT of downtime (By design because of the scale of the verse and we barely have one SMALL system right now), most get bored just having to travel off to an other planet just 20 Mil KM away. How do you think that will be like when we have to travel through multiple systems? Think walking around your ship with nothing to do or manage will be fun? I sure doubt it. Now sure, when 3.9 goes live, we won't have Icache yet (But it seems Icache is done and being tested, so maybe sooner rather then later). So we can't stock pile food in our ships.... Yet. But once we do, I sure will appreciate having to make myself a snack and a cup of coffee :coffee: while I have 10 - 15 minutes to wait for QT to be done. Folks... you will have PLENTY of downtime to manage your hunger and thirst inside your ship while you are in QT. And that's not all, while you QT you will eventually have time to check on your components and systems to makes sure everything is in good condition and apply basic repairs when needed. Hell, at some point, you will have to :hankey: and take showers. You should welcome these things, as you will have something to occupy yourself during long distance travels. Because I assure you, the down times when we get Pyro and other systems are not going to get any better. We need stuff to do! Again, I can't say it enough. These are not meant to annoy you. These are there to Keep you busy as the nature of the game will give you plenty of free time to manage those things. If you just want a straight to action experience, then good news. That's what Arena commander, Star Marines and the up coming ToW will be for. But for many, it's about the experience of living the life of a spaceman/women. Eating and drinking is part of that experience and so are the down times to do it. So if you don't like the idea of having to manage hunger and thirst because its "too much of a pain". Then I'm sorry to say that SC is not the game you imagined in your head. Because in regards to having stuff to manage, things are not going to get easier for you. Note: Small/med fighter pilots, I haven't forgotten about you and the fact that you don't have living quarters to do all those things. Sorry to say that small fighters don't have the range to navigate on long distances anyways due to low QF capacity, so you either need to make frequent stops just to refuel anyways. Or better yet, link your ship to a capital ship like the Idris, :squid: , etc... where you can do all of those things. But most importantly. Let's test the feature before we ask for it to be removed or changed... Shall we?
