Explain to me why I’m wrong, or agree with me. :nerd_face: The MISC Starlite is another example of an industrial ship where I keep asking myself: why does it have missiles? 2xS1 for what? Is this some kind of American mindset that I, as a European, just don’t understand? This also applies to ships like the Apollo, which is literally a search & rescue ship. An S&R ship like the Apollo, designed to pick up wounded people from a battlefield, whether in orbit or on the ground, does not need missiles. It needs point defense systems. First, an ambulance equipped with offensive weapons automatically legitimizes people shooting at it because it is armed. Second, missiles are useless for a rescue ship when it’s busy hovering, landing, or standing still. PD systems, on the other hand, would allow the pilot and crew to feel at least somewhat safer while helping others. :zany_face: The same applies to all civilian/industrial ships, including tankers. Missiles and fuel are a terrible combination. Theoretically, triggering just one explosion :boom: could destroy the entire ship. :skull_and_crossbones: Imagine Trump suggesting that all oil tankers should be equipped with missiles so they can safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Everyone would immediately think: “Uh… no. Are you insane?” Instead, they get escorts capable of intercepting incoming threats. For civilian ships, the highest priority should always be the best possible defense to escape conflicts quickly and with minimal damage. A few guns on a ship are understandable, but missiles are absolutely unnecessary. Defense can mean speed, armor, or defensive countermeasure systems. Unfortunately, ever since CIG started designing ships, it feels like everything with an engine gets guns and missiles bolted onto it. So why is CIG putting missiles on civilian ships? Just because it looks cool, or because they don’t know any better? Dear CIG ship designers, could you comment on this, or maybe start adding more point defense systems to civilian ships instead of missiles? :hearts: Of course, that's just my opinion. :slightly_smiling_face::innocent:
