EDIT: People seem to be semi-illiterate, so I'll add the points here at the top. Solutions That Need to Happen: 1. Change Self-Destruct Mechanics: Only the owner should have easy access to the self-destruct function. 2. Require Hacking for Non-Owners: If someone else wants to self-destruct, they should need a hacking chip and a timer to defend it—giving the crew a chance to react. 3. Manual Door Locks: Allow the ship’s owner to manually lock doors, including locking out party members. I should be able to bar anyone from the cockpit if I choose. Never said they need to do something about the griefers. Never said pvp was a problem. Never said people shouldn't pirate. I've only ever said that they need to give pilots ways to counter piracy as noted in the above points. Joining someone's party under the pretext to go do a mission and then shooting them in the back of the head should really not be the end all be all to PVP. Make the "piracy" loop a bit more interesting by giving the pilot a fighting chance. And no...... " Your fault for playing with randoms. " Is not an acceptable solution. CIG has stated everywhere they desire for players to link up and play... So, unless they intend to remove the beacons then they need to make sure we can remain safe while doing them. I’ve taken out my Polaris and invited people onboard exactly four times to help complete the Idris mission. Here’s how it went: 1. First Attempt: Went great. Had about 5 crew members, no issues. Smooth run. 2. Second Attempt: Spent 30 minutes waiting for everyone to arrive and load up. Headed to the mission and—bang—shot in the back of the head by one of the party members for no reason other than to grief. They killed the entire crew and camped us in the med bay for an hour. So much fun… 3. Third Attempt: Another 30 minutes loading up. The Idris mission kept resetting. After the fourth reset, the crew split. 4. Fourth Attempt: 30 minutes loading people again. The Idris was red and about to blow. Bang. Shot in the back of the head by another griefer who then self-destructed the Polaris, killing everyone onboard. My Questions: Why the hell does CIG give such easy access to the cockpit for anyone? Why can’t we set individual door locks yet? I get it—griefers are man-children who thrive on ruining other people’s experiences. But why does CIG make it so easy for them by giving us no real countermeasures? The game requires you to group up to operate larger ships. But when half the time there’s a griefer in the party, how am I supposed to stop them from shooting me in the back of the head or self-destructing the ship? They don’t even need a special tool—just sit in the pilot’s seat, hit self-destruct, and it’s game over. If CIG wants realism, then allowing anyone to waltz through the doors to the bridge is ridiculous. On an actual military ship, you wouldn’t see such nonsense. Even Star Wars understood this—you’d need to cut your way into the bridge! Final Thoughts: CIG, stop making griefing so easy and impossible to counter. This design choice makes me question why I even bother grouping up in the first place. If your goal is to kill your player base, just keep forcing people to play solo—because that’s where this is headed.
