I’d like to get the community’s opinion on a topic that’s been on my mind a lot lately: Is Star Citizen becoming too childish and mainstream? I feel like immersion is breaking down when physical laws seem not to matter — like how all ships rely on 'magic G-force' compensation and have no believable pressure adjustments. I’m also getting increasingly strong Fortnite vibes from the cosmetics; all the teddy and skull helmets, or the kitty-cat and Power Ranger-style armors, feel out of place. To me, ships are becoming more about style than technical plausibility. We see a heavy focus on action and shooter gameplay, while there is still no sign of actual exploration or science loops. Am I the only one who prefers the aesthetic of Battlestar Galactica, The Expanse, or Alien over the 'space fantasy' style of Star Wars or Firefly? I understand that realism needs to be fun, but isn't the 'micro-perspective'—actually performing physical tasks instead of just clicking through menus—supposed to be the core brand of Star Citizen? The vacuum of space should be a constant danger you have to prepare for, not a place to wear skull helmet with Christmas fairy lights in the antlers... Personally, I want ships to look believable, used, and utilitarian, rather than just 'cool.' I’d prefer more mature, deep, and narrative-driven gameplay over PvP campaigns and cinematic spectacles like giant worms. Also the teasers from CIG I see more and more childish humor when presenting new stuff. What’s your take? Do you like the current direction, or do you share my concerns? Do you prefer a more realistic, grown up approach or more of a phantasy style? In my humble opinion, the strength of Star Citizen has always been its uncompromising, niche approach to realism and immersion—that was its original USP. Interestingly, there is a growing market trend of players seeking exactly that kind of depth. My concern is that by pivoting toward the mainstream, CIG risks losing its core identity and unique selling proposition. It’s a classic product positioning trap: if you try to serve everyone without a clear focus, you ultimately fail to satisfy anyone. Thanks for your feedback and o7
