CIG have done it once again. They have eliminated the UEC total purchase cap, and have handled it incredibly poorly. EDIT: to make things a bit more clear, since a lot of people think this thread is about the UEC cap or P2W, it is not. It is about the way CIG poorly handle policy changes. I've heard the suggestion that UEC stockpiling is no different than ship purchase stockpiling. Well, there's a thousand and one ways to solve that problem as well. Limit cash purchased ship sell-offs (in-game) to a time or amount limit. Have a day 1 roll-out limit the slowly releases over the course of a few days/weeks/months. Simply don't let people sell their pledged ships/items for UEC. Depreciate ship value such that easy-to-obtain is the status quo for ships, while components are where the real value exists. The solution should NEVER be: keep removing limitations on how much money we can squeeze out of people while ignoring the consequences. And it ESPECIALLY SHOULD NOT BE: REMOVE MONETARY LIMITATIONS WITHOUT COMMUNICATING A CLEAR, HEAVILY WEIGHED PROCESS IN SUCH A DECISION. This is: a bad decision of unnecessarily solving a problem that never should have existed (VD purchases) that was itself solved poorly (transferring value to UEC instead of store credit) through a solution that has FAR better alternatives anyway (special cap for VD returns, higher cap, lower conversion rates, etc) done at a really bad time (3.3 delays, FM+ESP universally hated, summer drought, ATV shrunk, refund elimination, etc) without proper communication explaining why such a change was made, showing us this matter was carefully considered, and that the consequences to us matter to CIG without involving the community to help find better solutions (like we have often done, many times after mistakes) with only a minimal effort statement done in an obscure manner and done after-the-fact, instead of informing people beforehand of the change On top of all this, these are habitual mistakes that CIG have continually failed to learn from, and that we've had to complain about. This is completely and utterly disrespectful to the backers and all the hard devs who work tirelessly and don't deserve to have their efforts overshadowed by BS like this. There is no excuse. Things need to change.
