Current design direction of - vertical progression treadmills for hamsters governed by an auto-timer with a limited use snooze button for a guaranteed and inevitable loss to keep it going - is the worst possible system. 4.7 implementation and how Devs double down on it in Q&A made me lose all interest in the project, as no matter what - everyone have to deal with this BS no matter what they do in the game. From quality RNG to guaranteed and inevitable loss of everything with degradation - it makes the whole game completely out of player control. Sandbox, PvP, Full-loot, loss on death, DoaSM - all of the fundamental systems of the game work with the player, work with and for player gameplay/decisions/actions and consequences, work while player is playing the game - such design rewards player skill and knowledge, promotes getting better at the game - all the good stuff, while playing the game, for fun, for progression, to hangout with friends or to have something interesting to do at you leisure time. Now everything is completely and unavoidably overshadowed by a treadmill with a guaranteed loss. No matter how good you are at the game, no matter if you did everything right and came up on top in whatever situation sandbox threw at you - in the end your loss is guaranteed simply because you decided to play the game. The system is fucking rigged, hehe. From the game I thought to be the best game ever it became something that is clearly not for me. Game is uninstalled, wallet is closed, whatever I was prepping in my hangar to use for the interesting setup for the future looks like is going to be written off as a bad investment. Thankfully I'm not that deep for the sum to be uncomfortable. All excitement I had for new ships is gone as all the incredible and rich technology of movement and interactions of this game was made completely worthless for me by that set of systems that are going to govern all of the gameplay. Even with the current state of the game, since I started playing - I had a lot of the best multiplayer experiences ever - good life long memories worthy. The technology, possible interactions and situations, movement through the game world, fidelity and beauty of it - all is truly fantastic, thank you! The current philosophy of 'treadmills to lose' makes the whole thing feel sad and not for me, unavoidable part of it that puts it in everything in the game also puts a decisive period at the end. I'll check back on Spectrum and media from time to time to see if there are any fundamental changes from this philosophy back to 'gameplay/decisions/actions and consequences while playing the game' being the core again, as right now it is such a net negative in the Joy part, not worth of my money and especially time. \o/ Edit: additional info here (open in new tab) in one of the replies, as it looks like linking in the same thread doesn't work.
