Aside from the obvious fact that the vast majority of livery is from the pledge store and hence opens up a can of worms when permanently lost, it also serves no practical in game purpose other than giving ships personality. CIG have created a situation now where NO ONE will load anything but the stock paint on any of their ships, resulting in a much more boring universe.
