I hate to be negative, but at a loss on what's going on with Star Citizen. I'm an old Wing Commander guy, have been super excited about Star Citizen and dumped WAY more money into it than I ever should have, not to mention recruited a lot of people that threw in more money. We would play pretty much every week. Even got to talk to some Nvidia engineers about it and how we were using their tools to stream and record games. Then things started to break more and more, so we mostly stopped playing. New patch, wait for some hot fixes and one or two sub patches then play, see new features, stop, rinse and repeat until we started skipping even that. Don't get me wrong, ton of technical breakthroughs, better stability, and new game loops, but damn, it's mostly tedious and unintuitive. I mean I get skills based, but I spend more time searching YouTube than playing the game and half of it still doesn't make sense. Purposefully confusing or convoluted design doesn't equal skills based. Scanning, docking, cargo, all the flight modes, there's so much frustration, and little to no reward (we have enough of that in real life). Used to be you'd see abandoned ships because of bugs that kicked you out/trapped your or something similar, now it appears more because people just get frustrated with the gameplay and quit. There's fantastic work being done, the game still looks brilliant and can be absolutely awe inspiring at times, but it's often more tedious than my current job where I'm basically a glorified accountant for the government. I know, just wait until it gets better, but will it? If it's not compelling enough for us old backers that were cheerleading the game and fighting with the naysayers for so long, won't the hype machine trail off, and the entire thing start to fizzle? Is there something I'm missing? What's keeping people going, especially solo or small groups? Is it possible to have fun just jumping in for an hour on occasion because long sessions aren't always possible? How many people are having successful missions that make you work for it without feeling like the IRL work I'm trying to get away from? Not trying to be a jerk, but the game is losing me.
