I have supported Star Citizen for a few years now and I pledged for a couple of concept ships - a few of them quite expensive. I like the concept for Star Citizen and I would like to play an MMORPG with the features that this game has in the pipeline. But what I have seen in almost all the cases where I pledged for concept ships so far is that these ships do not live up to what was promised. I understand that the development of the game will require some changes in ship stats and features, but when the experience is that the ships when released end up being dumped down versions of what was promised, I begin to lose faith in CIG. I mean, when I want to purchase something - or support a crowdfunding project - I expect that the company will deliver what is promised - or what is very close to what was promised - if they are at all able. Of course a company can fail in making the product it promises and my money will be lost. That is the gamble I take when I support something. But I expect that the company will do everything it can to fullfill the promises they made to those who pledged their support, because otherwise, what would the value of their promises be on the market? - If you cannot trust a company, then you wont buy their products or support them again if they seek funds through crowdfunding. Neither would you encourage other people to support them. This is where I currently stand with CIG. CIG have proven, that they do not deliver the ships with the features they promised (or features that would be similar) when they offered them up for pledging. When ships that were described in a certain way and described to fill out a certain role ends up being something that is very far from being able to fill out the intended role is simply not acceptable. As a company you must at least show willingness to deliver the products you promise, otherwise you might as well close up shop. If CIG think that just because they are big and people have thrown buckets of money at them that they cannot fail as a company, then they have misunderstood something. If they make jokes of their promises, their customers will look somewhere else, and being a big company wont save you from falling. You will just hit the ground harder.
