Most of the dogfighters in this game are designated as: "Combat (Short Range) – The in-game equivalent of a carrier based ship, such as the Gladius and Hornet. These ships will not come with nor have the ability to equip Fuel Intakes." Since everyone loves to throw the "CBF" term in the faces of people who own dogfighters, we need an "in-game equivalent" of a carrier. Something much smaller than a Bengal or Pegasus, and carries more fighters than an Idris. Not a Hull or floating truck stop (Kraken), but something NEW. Something that can transport 6-8 fighters and their pilots across the galaxy. Vanguards are great (I own one) but they are outmaneuvered by these "short range" fighters. Given pilots of equal skill, I dont think we can expect a Vanguard or Defender to go toe to toe with Hornets, Gladiators, and Sabres. We need short range fighters to go up against other short range fighters while we are patrolling/escorting/pirating far from our home systems. All this carrier has to do is provide living accommodations for the pilots and crew and haul 6-8 fighters and be able to scramble them when needed. Repairing/Rearming/Refueling can still be provided by the Starfarer/Vulcan/Crucible. I'm not asking for an uber-military carrier, just something simple that gives back some sense of usefulness to our dogfighters, given the updated Fuel Mechanics.
