Hello CIG, I was hoping to put an hypothetical scenario here with some clarification on how to proceed. Moving forward, we will see a lot more pirates trying to capture ships intact to increase salvage value of said ships and, in the future, salvage components. The problem here is, currently, we do not have a way of dealing with a pilot that does not want to give up control of said ship. This, unfortunately, results in a stalemate. Currently, this stalemate could be easily dealt by constantly killing until the salvaging operation is complete but there is a genuine concern that this is considered breaking TOS for "Consistently harassing the same player" if said player decided to use an "infinite respawn" to keep contesting the ship through the mechanic of "Karate chop" heavy armoured pirates, while naked. This could be easily solved with the previous mechanic of everyone being able to clear the respawn list of said ship. But, sadly, this was removed. So currently pirates have no way of dealing with this stalemate, if said pilot chooses to remain in the ship. So I ask, going forward in development, where taking the ship intact is preferential, what can be done to prevent this, within the TOS guidelines?? Also what are CIG's plan of addressing this situation in the future? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: A lot of people have suggested lying in the bed as a more viable alternative of this scenario. While this is true, 2 points I would like to address: - I would like to know if CIG agrees with this, since the thread also asks for their input; - I would rather not take control from respawning from the player, rather let him opt in on the communication towards pirates (once he cools down) or decide to remove the spawn himself (should he chose to give up). I don't feel an "eternal black screen" is a fun mechanic for the defending player, denying him the option of spawning in the home location and come back to contest said pirates (if he has no way of returning to the same server). Also I would ask for people to stay respectfull and provide constructive criticism rather than just "Then don't do it!" mentality. Piracy is as much of a valid gameplay loop as any other.
