Engineering is not the missing piece of the puzzle for why multi-crew stinks, and adding it in without addressing the current existing issues, will just make multi-crew worse. Turrets, being the biggest offender in regards to multi-crew combat, still suck. To my knowledge CIG have not yet announced any sort of changes or improvements as of yet, in making turrets and gunnery better. Big ships should be crewed, but it needs to be both fun and worth it for people to do it in the first place, but unfortunately currently it's neither. Its not fun sitting in a turret for minutes on end with nothing to do, you'll still get dumped out into space when you roam your ships (because of course that's still not fixed), and when you actually get some action you end up not being able to do anything but waste ammo. All for mediocre rewards since it's all split evenly amongst party members. And in the end you're still better off flying multiple single seaters for the same amount of crew, because it's more efficient and only one or a few of you die in the process. Multi-crew sucks, and engineering should be a complimentary addition. But that's not possible if the things that make multi-crew suck in the first place, still exist when it finally gets added in. The whole point of this post is to point out how CIG continue to sweep existing problems under the rug, and just keep adding new things onto the pile in hopes of it getting better eventually. CIG should add engineering. But they need to fix multi-crew alongside the addition of engineering.
